‘Ndidi, Etebo Injury Blow Something To Worry About’ – Aghahowa

Former Nigeria international Julius Aghahowa has said injury to Super Eagles midfield duo Wilfred Ndidi and Oghenekaro Etebo is something to think about.

Ndidi and Etebo were left out of the Eagles squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifying double header against Central African Republic due to injury.

Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers revealed Ndidi is set to be out for four to five weeks, while Etebo could be sidelined for the rest of the year.

And reacting to the absence of both Premier League Star Aghahowa, speaking on Brila FM, said:”That’s a big blow and it’s something to worry about. When you have players who are playing regularly for the first team, they start the game all the time and now you have this number of players injured, it’s a big blow to the team.

“I know definitely the coach will look for alternatives he will find replacement for them as quick as possible because we us e good number of players coming through the ranks at the moment. But the only issue there is that they have not gotten enough playing time for them to get into the team.

“But it is an opportunity also for the new players to show what they can do for the team.”

Aside Ndidi and Etebo, Lorient striker Terem Moffi will not be part of the squad to the qualifiers after getting injured at the weekend.

  • No be small blow my brother. Etebo is a,big miss since he most likely will miss the AFCON but hopefully we will get a fully fit and functional ndidi back before then.
Hopefully the coaching crew will get a good replacement for etebo and not just players playing in big leagues or big competitions who dont offer up to half of what etebo brought to the super eagles.

    • You are talking about past Etebo, a fully fit Etebo will still be out of SE final squad from any competition. He has lost a lot of form.

TO ME, IT’S NOT SOMETHING TO WORRY ABOUT.IT IS AN AVENUE FOR OTHER PLAYERS TO GRAB THEIR OPPORTUNITY IF TRULY THEY ARE READY TO GO TO WORLD CUP.
THE SAME THING HAPPEN TO YOU IN AFCON 2000.YOU ARE GIVEN A CHANCE AS A STRIKER AND YOU GRAB IT WITH BOTH HANDS AND SINCE THEN YOU RENDER AKWEUGBU, CHUKWU NDUKWE IRRELEVANT IN SUPER EAGLE.THE PRESENT NEW PLAYERS SHOULD DO THE SAME THING. BUT THEY ARE LAZY & SLUGGISH.

  • AGHAHOWA,Truly in AFCON2000,you are minority player. You prove your worth to become deadly in scoring goals for Nigeria from winger. Most of your goals scored for Nigeria are very deadly (dangerous) & critical goals. You never score a simple(fluke) goal.
