Ndidi Named Man Of The Match In Super Eagles Win Vs Burundi

Wilfred Ndidi has been named man of the match in Nigeria’s Super Eagles’ 1-0 win against Burundi in their AFCON 2019 Group B clash at the Alexandria Stadium on Saturday night, reports Completesports.com.

Ndidi was picked ahead of the trio of Alex Iwobi, Samuel Chukwueze and Ola Aina who were also impressive in the game.

The Leicester City star lined up in midfield alongside the duo of Oghenekaro Etebo and captain John Mikel Obi in the game

He played the entire 90 minutes of the entertaining encounter.

“After his stellar performance, @Ndidi25 has been selected as the Total Man of the Match. Congrats!,” reads a Tweet on the official Twitter handle of the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

Substitute Odion Ighalo scored the winning goal for the Super Eagles 13 minutes from time.

Nigeria’s next game is against the Syli Nationale of Guinea next Wednesday also at the Alexandria Stadium.

I thought the Super Eagles played a good game under the difficult circumstances. They simply got the job done, and the 3 points. I hardly noticed Ndidi in the pack, but still he got the Man-of-the-Match Award. That’s how good he is..

Ola Aina was the man of the match for me

  • What was CAF thinking Ola Aina should have gotten this award, or chukwueze

Iam not convinced that Ndidi was the man of the match in eagles 1-0 triumph over Burundi. Rather, it should be Ola Aina with his 1m dollar pass that Ighalo cleverly converted. I hope this apparent error of judgement will not impact negatively on team spirit and harmony . CAF should please err on the side of caution.
