The Executive Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has asked the Super Falcons coaching crew led by Justine Madugu to step down, completesports.com reports.
This was made known by the NFF in a statement on their official X handle today (Monday).
“The Executive Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation has asked members of the technical crew of the @NGSuper_Falcons to step down with immediate effect,” the football body wrote.
How Poor WAFCON Outing Cost Madugu Super Falcons Job
The decision to ask Madugu and his coaching crew to step down may not be unconnected to the Super Falcons’ poor outing at the just concluded Women’s African Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.
For the first time the Super Falcons failed to reach the semifinals of the WAFCON, as they lost 1-0 to eventual champions Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon in the quarterfinals.
The defeat saw the Super Falcons miss out on automatic qualification to the 2027 FIFA women’s World Cup in Brazil.
Despite the disappointment of missing out on automatic qualification, the 10-time WAFCON champions had the chance to reach the World Cup via the play-in, but lost 2-1 to South Africa who, alongside Ghana, will feature at the Intercontinental playoffs.

The defeat to South Africa means the Super Falcons will miss the World Cup for the first time since making their debut at the maiden edition in 991 in China.
NFF Sets Up Fact-Finding Committee To Probe National Teams Recent Failures
Following the team’s failure to qualify for the World Cup, the NFF immediately set up a fact-finding committee to investigate the country’s recent poor performances in international competitions, with particular focus on the Super Falcons.
Announcing the committee on its X handle, the NFF said it would probe the setbacks suffered by Nigeria’s national teams and recommend measures to prevent a recurrence.
According to the federation, the committee will “investigate the setbacks and make recommendations” on the way forward for Nigerian football.
The NFF said the move was necessary to “identify the factors responsible for the recent poor performances” and develop appropriate recommendations to improve the fortunes of the national teams.
The members include former Golden Eaglets coach Ambassador Fanny Amun, MON, who will chair the committee, former Flying Eagles coach Ladan Bosso, former Super Falcons captain Desire Oparanozie, former Super Eagles midfielder Mutiu Adepoju and Dr Alex Mana.
