The Scottish Football Association (SFA) has officially confirmed it has lost confidence in FIFA President Gianni Infantino and will not vote for his re-election in early 2027.
SFA chief executive Ian Maxwell stated that Scotland stands fully behind UEFA’s position regarding the FIFA leadership.

The backlash stems from FIFA’s controversial and ultimately aborted FIFA Forward Enterprise plan, which attempted to privatize major commercial and ticketing rights.
The proposal, which would have sold 21% of ticketing and commercial rights to private investors, was scrapped after widespread criticism from UEFA and other confederations that threatened a boycott of FIFA competitions.
Scotland joins England, Wales, and the Republic of Ireland in pulling support ahead of the vote.
The governing body’s chief executive Ian Maxwell told BBC: “The Scottish FA will not be voting for Gianni Infantino. That’s in line with the UEFA position and we’ve maintained that stance throughout.”
“When you’re an administrator in football, you shouldn’t be anywhere near the camera anywhere near as often as has been the case.

“There’s obviously been a fall-down in governance, there’s been a lack of transparency, there’s been a lack of engagement with member associations, and that’s something that we need to address.
“The transparency and the governance needs to change. What form that takes, what that looks like, is up for a bit of debate.”
