Nigerian Ambassador Thumbs Up Super Eagles Despite Defeat To Portugal

Nigeria’s ambassador to Portugal, Alex Kefas has praised the Super Eagles despite the team’s 4-0 defeat to the Selecao on Thursday night.

Jose Peseiro’s side were completely outplayed by their hosts in the friendly encounter at the Estadio Jose Alvalade, Lisbon.

Kefas visited the players after the game and was joined by the
Nigerian ambassador to Guinea Bissau and Nigeria’s ambassador to the Czech Republic.

“I’m happy that you are here, even though the outcome of the game was disappointing. I believe this is just the beginning of our relationship with the Nigeria Football Federation,”Kefas stated.

“It was a friendly game and the Super Eagles have done well over the years. It was their first game against Portugal and the first time they will be playing here.

“I see this as a sign of friendship between us and the Portuguese national team.

“Aside from the Super Eagles coming here to train a couple of times in the past, this is the first time we are seeing the team in action here.

“I observed some of you were devasted when you came in, but that’s football. You lost today, but it is also important to concentrate on the future.

“We will keep on supporting you and the NFF as well as our head coach, Jose Peseiro.”

What does the ambassador know about football?

As long as we have refused to be patient, as long as we continue to trade blames on players/coaches, as long as we continue in day dreaming of been the best, as long as we have football authority that can’t liaise with clubs to get players as at when required, as long as we are looking for quick fix just to satisfy our senseless bragging right, AS LONG AS ONE GOOD LOCAL PLAYER TODAY BECOMES FOREIGN TOMORROW, as long as we continue to allow ourselves to be manipulated by so called never do well ex internationals, as long as the media people cheaply give them as tools to force players into SE, as long as Sports minister Dare remains a voice as it concerns SE, AS LONG AS FANS FAIL TO UNDERSTAND THAT NATIONAL TEAM SHOULD BE ABOUT A TEAM N NOT INDIVIDUALS. AS LONG AS FANS CONTINUE TO FAIL TO UNDERSTAND THAT GOOD PERFORMANCE AT CLUBSIDES DOESN’T NECESSARILY TRANSLATE TO GOOD PERFORMANCE AT NATIONAL TEAM, As long as we continue to have politicians managing our football instead of football technocrats, WE WILL FOREVER AND EVER REMAIN A LAUGHING STOCK/UNDER-ACHIEVERS HOWEVER THE AMOUNT OF TALENTED FOOTBALLERS WE Might HAVE.

Anyway that being said, concerning yesterday game and considering the above circumstances, it will be extremely difficult to castigate the players. I will rather choose to look at the positives.
1). Now we have Aina N Osayi, tyronne three very good quality for that position
    2) Dennis, yeah I have always been his fans but he has beaten more than he can chew. He must be finally dumped out of SE. HE brings bad luck n he is negatively affecting the team however talented he might be. Maybe he needs spiritual cleansing, as I see a downward trend overing around him.
    3) People may say whatever they like about EKONG, but yesterday, EKONG showed how well he is improved, a lot more confident on the ball than ever before, and with more games together with Akpoguma they will both strike good chemistry to produce a solid CB pairing. That should not stop the coach from getting loads of other quality CB who only needs to play constantly with one another. Only fear is age/injury
    4) Yes we lost disgracefully, but that team showed that if they can have some long camping together, they will be a really really good team ready to take on any team in the world. SO NFF MUST NOW START THINKING OF THE POSSIBLITY OF PERIODICALLY CAMPING THIS PLAYERS TOGETHER.
STRANGE WE WERE EXPECTING TO BEAT A POTENTIAL WORLD CUP WINNER PORTUGAL WITH ONLY A ONE DAY PROPER TRAINING, A PORTUGAL THAT HAS PLAYING/BLENDING TOGETHER WHILST PLAYING IN THE NEWLY INTRODUCE EUROPEAN NATIONAL TEAMS LEAGUE. NIGERIANS ARE INDEED DREAMERS, NO WONDER SOMEONE CAME OUT TO SAY BACK IN THE DAYS WHEN NIGERIA RULED THE WORLD IN FOOTBALL. Hahaha….I have checked n checked n still checking but can’t find that information.

Emmanuel Dennis brings bad luck to the team. Once his arrogance killed the game, it was over!. It was like other players resigned themselves to fate and waiting for the game to end; that’s body language for you.

Emmanuel Dennis is not a good player, no matter how we see him. I’ve never liked him and his style. His old coaches resent him, former players don’t like him, NFF is the only group that wants him.

Someone should advise him to forget football and use his money to come invest in Catfish!

Emmanuel Dennis bribed his ways to the team. Rohr would never tolerate his bad behavior. He was not properly brought up by his family. He is a bad egg.

I will keep it short –
Boo to Emmanuel Dennis, my advice to whoever it concerns is never to invite that mumu back into the fold – he has TOILET attitude and brings bad luck to the team
I was one of those calling for him after the first time I saw him play in the premiership but since then, having had a good chance to take a proper look – If Peseiro has any sense, he would turf the chav out!
I am fed up of all there entitled ignoramuses!
And just before anyone says I am saying this just because he forced himself on the penalty and wasted it – You are wrong, that is an almost unforgivable crime but note I said almost – If the player in question carries more merit as a member of the team then it will be easy to forgive such a thing, learn from it and move on but not for Dennis, his attitude stinks and he is not even a great player or anything like that, at his club, Taiwo is way ahead of him in the squad based on ability and what their own gaffer can see which is the true reflection of the facts as seen daily in training and even on match days because Dennis has regressed badly and he is not getting any younger.
    Enough said Emmanuel Dennis out!

    • I just wonder how a coach will leave Taiwo Awoniyi and Chidera Ejuke and invite Dennis instead. All man is just waiting for the next list. If Paseiro and NFF get 2 heads, make them dare add Dennis name to the list. He has automatically retired himself from the SE. Pride goes before a fall.
