The Nigerian played 31 out of 32 possible league matches, of which 29 were from the start.
“It means a lot to me to get this award. It’s always nice with recognition, even if it’s the team’s performance that matters most to me. I am happy to have played so many matches and been a regular part of the team,” Onyedika told FC Midtylland ‘s official website.

” The season has gone much better than I had dared to hope for. There must be a big thank you to the coaches and my teammates who have been good at helping me so that I have always been able to improve.
“It has been the most important thing for me, and it still is. I want to get better all the time. So I keep working hard every day for training and looking at every match to see what I can do better.”

Most of us have been trying to draw the attention of successive Super Eagles coaches to the duo of enterprising and effervescent midfield maestros, Raphael Onyedika and Alhassan Yusuf . But they seem to stuck on Innocent Bonke and perhaps,Frank Onyeka, in the absence of injured Wilfred Ndidi. Truth be told, only the yet-to-be-capped duo of Onyedika and Yusuf can effectively replace Ndidi in the Super Eagles midfield. One hopes Jose Santos Peseiro is listening!
Raphael Onyedika and Anderlecht Ishaq, pls forumites who is better?
Raphael is CM while Isaq is more of a winger cum attacking midfielder
Good to know. I think the comparison should now be between Raphael and aAlhasan Yusuf
Midfield players are always difficult to assess because they come in all shapes and sizes. A team’s midfield requires both brains and muscle. A midfielder is akin to a quarterback in American football, and yet can also be an enforcer.
As such midfielders come in different flavors. Some are all brains and no muscle i.e. Luka Modric others are all muscle i.e. Michael Essien. Some are a mixture of brain and muscle others are dribblers that attack defences Messi, Gianfranco Zola. Still, others are great passers of the ball.
That Nigeria has a quartet (Amoo, Raphael, Al Hassan, Ishaq) of promising U-23 midfield players is great news. Opportunities to play at senior level should be found for them.
