Nigerian Striker Olamilekan Wants To Rule The World, Starting From Egypt

From scoring his first goal last January in an FA Cup match against MSR Elslom in just his third match for Olyimpic Sporting Club of Alexandria to last weekend’s scorcher in a thriling 3-3 draw with Alaab Damanhour in the Egyptian Second League, little-known Nigerian striker Lawal Olamilekan has his sight set on conquering the land of the Pharaohs by playing and winning titles by playing for Zamalek SC or Al Ahli, the two biggest teams in Egypt.

The graduate of Brighter Tomorrow FC reckons the world is yet to see a fraction of his goalscoring prowess since he’s only playing in the second-tier of Egyptian football and he assures that his goals will continue to speak for him for as long as he’s afforded decent playing time.

In an exclusive interview with www.naijasuperfans.com, Olamilekan said: ” To be honest, I’m in a really good shape mentally, physically and tactically and ready to score as long as long as I have the confidence of my coach to play games.”

Talking about his coach, Olympic is coached by former Egypt forward and erstwhile Zamalek striker, Ahmed El Kass for whom Olamilekan has nothing but kind words.

“I can say I’m the luckiest player to play under a coach who was a proven goalscorer in his days. He’s become a mentor and treats his players like his own children. Working with him has hastened my development and I can say I’m a better player now than I was when I came to Olympics last January. I’m sure working with El Kass will help me to achieve my goals in football,” he said.

In remarkable fashion, the 19-year old has helped steered Olympics to third place in the Group C of the Egyptian Second League. They are unbeaten in their last 10 games in the league with five wins and five draws.

The good run may however not be enough to nick a promotion ticket with just four games left of the season but Olamilekan’s sights are set on greater things ahead.

He said: “My target is to become the highest goalscorer and use Olympic as a great ladder in my football career. I will work hard to play for Zamalek or Al Ahly ETC in the next few seasons and my biggest dream someday is to be invited to play for the Super Eagles because its a thing of joy and great honour to play for Nigeria.”

Olamilekan was happy to be among the goals in the 3-3 draw against Damanhour but is already looking ahead to the next game against Al Jazeera on Thursday.

“The game was not easy and the team we played is one with much experience. It was not easy for us, thank God we were able to equalize in the second half. I give God all the glory for the goal but that is gone and we have to focus on our next game,” he concluded.

  • Without a shadow of doubt, Olamilekan should be invited for the game against Mexico. Based on what I read from the article above, the guy seems like the real deal.

Can you imagine? Lawal Olamilekan and Paul Onuachu flanked by Anayo Owuala and Funsho Bamgboye, we are definitely home and dry.

With them up front, we will not only win next year’s Afcon but we will do it with 2 games to spare.

    How, you ask?

Well, after the carnage and devastation Olamilekan and Onuachu would have inflicted on our opponents leading up to the semi-finals, our other 2 oppositions will be too scared to leave their dressing rooms!
