Nigerian Winger Makes English Football League’s Team of The Week

Nigeria and League One’s Rotherham United winger, Chiedozie Ogbene, was included in the English Football League (EFL) Team of The Week, Completesports.com reports.

The EFL made this known after publishing the Team of The Week list on their verified Twitter handle on Tuesday.

The list includes players from the Championship, League One and League Two.

Ogbene’s inclusion in the list was due to his impressive performance in the 3-0 home win against Bristol Rovers on Saturday.

He scored Rotherham’s third goal on 88 minutes and provided assists for their first and second goals.

The 22-year-old is on the right side of a five-man midfield, in a 3-5-2 formation of the Team of The Week.

He now has one goal and seven assists in 20 appearances in all competitions for Rotherham this season.

Born in Nigeria, Ogbene moved with his family (including two brothers and two sisters) to Ireland in 2005 and in November 2017 he was linked with a transfer to Aston Villa.

On 30 January 2018, Ogbene signed for Brentford on a three-and-a-half year contract for an undisclosed fee.

He made his league debut on 10 April 2018, making one further appearance that season. He moved on loan to Exeter City in August 2018.

On 29 August 2019, he joined League One club Rotherham United for an undisclosed fee, signing a three-year contract.
