Vandrezzer FC head coach Rafael Everton is in positive mood ahead of his side’s Nigeria National League clash with Bayelsa United in Ikot Ekpene on Sunday.
Everton’s side will take on the Yenegoa club in the Raffia City, with the Lions of Naija looking to claim their first win of the season.
The Ibiono Ibom club are in group B2 alongside the likes of Remo Stars, Bendel Insurance and Crown FC, in what is a tough group, but the Brazilian tactician is confident his team can have a successful campaign.
“We know that this is the toughest league in Nigeria, so every game is crucial. With the right mentality, the boys can do it; they can win on Sunday and do well this season,” the former FC Ifeanyi Ubah gaffer said.
Even though the newly-founded club lost to J. Atete in their opening match on Sunday, the former Abia Warriors coach took a lot positives from the game, saying the club’s supporters should look forward to victory over Bayelsa United.
“The game against J. Atete was an eye opener. We had a problem in the first 20 minutes, but we played well afterwards. We’ve regrouped, and I promise the fans we will deliver come Sunday.”
Everton, who was formally announced as the club’s boss on November 24, also spoke about his new employers.
“I like it here at Vandrezzer. They have the best working atmosphere compared to the other clubs I have worked with in Nigeria. The team and chairman deserve to succeed and I am ready to help.”
