No Greenham Stakes Outing For Too Darn Hot

No Greenham Stakes Outing For Too Darn Hot

John Gosden says Too Darn Hot will not make his intended comeback in Saturday’s Watership Down Stud Greenham Stakes at Newbury.

The Newmarket handler had planned to give his Qipco 2000 Guineas ante-post favourite a run-out in the opening race of the Flat season this weekend after the three-year-old won all four of his starts last season.

However, Gosden confirmed that a slight problem with Too Darn Hot has been identified after a morning run on Wednesday so he will be kept under wraps until Newmarket next month.

Gosden told the Racing Post: “Too Darn Hot breezed comfortably this morning under Frankie Dettori on the Al Bahathri but tonight at evening stables he was found to have some heat in his splint bone. “Unfortunately he’ll have to miss Newbury as he’ll have a few easy days.

The plan is to take him straight to the Qipco 2,000 Guineas.”
