Abia Warriors hitman, Anthony Ijoma, has expressed joy over his club’s potential third-place finish in the 2024/2025 NPFL — a feat that has guaranteed them a spot in next season’s CAF second-tier interclub competition, the CAF Confederation Cup, Completesports.com reports.
Abia Warriors defeated El-Kanemi Warriors 2-1 in Sunday’s matchday 37 fixture to reach the 60-point mark on the standings, four points clear of fourth-placed Ikorodu City FC with only one game left.
Ijoma has scored 12 goals so far this season for Abia Warriors, while his strike partner, Sunday Megwo, has 11.

Ijoma was recently crowned Abia Warriors’ Player of the Month for April, having netted three goals during the period under review.
The burly forward told Completesports.com on Tuesday evening that while he is pleased with his 12-goal contribution this term, he is even more delighted to have played a role in the club’s maiden qualification for the CAF Confederation Cup in the 2025/2026 season.
“I’m happy receiving this award of Abia Warriors Player of the Month, POTM, for April,” Ijoma said.
“It shows one’s efforts are being recognised, but beyond that, I’m much happier that my club, Abia Warriors, will be playing for the first time on the African continent.
“For me, this is a big achievement that nobody had expected, and it makes our joy boundless.

“Yes, I’ve scored 12 goals already. We still have a game away to Ikorodu City on the final day of the season this weekend. Who says I won’t score again to increase my tally?
“But overall, I’m happy that, win or lose at Ikorodu City on Sunday in Lagos, we’ve qualified for the continent next season — and I’m a part of this history.”
