Akwa United suffered their third loss of the 2018/19 NPFL season losing 2-0 away to Nasarawa United at the Lafia Township Stadium in a matchday 5 encounter on Monday, reports Completesports.com.

Two second-half goals from Mohammed Shammasu in the 55th minute and another from Daddy Morris in stoppage time handed the Lafia-based side their first win of the campaign.

Akwa United kicked off the encounter having not won a game in Lafia in their last five visits in the NPFL. They dominated play, and created chances, but lacked the cutting edge to break down the defence line of Nasarawa United.

Mfon Udoh, Alberico da Silva, and Cyril Olisema all came close to breaking the deadlock in the first half but failed to make their attempts count.

Ten minutes into the second half, Shammasu scored the opener for Nasarawa United. Ojo Olorunleke fumbled Morris’ long-range strike to concede a second goal in the encounter.

In Omoku, Sodiq Ololade grabbed the match winner for Go Round FC in the 58th minute as they defeated El-Kanemi 1-0.

The goal was Go Round’s first at home this season. They had earlier played a goalless draw at home with FC Ifeanyi Ubah.

Go Round move up to fourth in the NPFL Group B standings with seven points from four games.
