Charles Ihimekpen, Secretary of Bendel Insurance FC, Benin, has exclusively told Completesports.com that the club is in no rush to appoint a new technical helmsman following the resignation of their former Technical Adviser, Monday Odigie.
Odigie, a former Nigeria U-17 Head Coach, stepped down from his position after the Benin Arsenal’s 3-2 defeat to Rangers in Enugu on NPFL matchday 12, which left the club languishing in 20th place on the 2024/2025 NPFL standings.
With Bendel Insurance set to face Nasarawa United in Wednesday’s Match Day 14 fixture at the Lafia Township Stadium, Ihimekpen explained that hiring Odigie’s successor is not a priority for the club at the moment.

“We’ve not told anyone that we’re looking for a new coach,” said onetime captain of Bendel Insurance, Ihimekpen, popularly known as ‘Chico.’
“This is a government club, and you know there’s a new government now in the state.”
Completesports.com checks reveal that Odigie resigned from his role as Technical Director after being reassigned as Technical Manager. It is understood that he had previously resigned early last year but was persuaded to return to his position.
In the interim, Greg Ikhenoba, who was second in command, has been tasked with handling the club’s technical responsibilities pending further directives from the newly formed Edo State Government.
Ikhenoba marked his debut in his new role with an impressive 3-1 victory over Kwara United at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin, last Sunday.
