Kenneth Boardman, one of the living legends of Rangers International FC, has penned an emotional congratulatory message to the Flying Antelopes following their ninth Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title triumph, Completesports.com reports.

Rangers equalled Enyimba’s record of nine league titles after clinching the 2025/2026 NPFL crown. The tile race went down to the wire, and the Flying Antelopes finally bagged it on the final day on May 24 2026 with 68 points — one point above second-placed Rivers United.
Boardman, who now resides in the United States of America, described his former club as one of the greatest football clubs in Africa and the world.

The former Rangers star, who was a contemporary of the late Christian Chukwu, said the team’s achievement in the just-concluded season reflects the club’s proud legacy, rich history and enduring status as a symbol of excellence in African football.

Boardman Hails Club’s Rich Legacy
The Flying Antelopes defeated Ikorodu City 2-1 in Lagos on the final matchday of the 2025/2026 season to secure the NPFL title ahead of fierce challengers Rivers United.

The victory marked the Enugu club’s ninth top-flight league title in Nigerian football history, drawing them level with their Oriental rivals, Enyimba, as the most successful clubs in NPFL history.
The coach Fidelis Ilechukwu’s team aimed to win a double in the 20252026 football season, but failed in their President Federation Cup campaign. They were stopped in the Round of 32 by Finidi George’s Rivers United who won the envy game 3–2 at Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo.
