Team Ogun defeated Team Sokoto 38-34 to win gold medal in the women’s handball event at the Alake Sports Complex, Ijeja Abeokuta on Wednesday.
The hosts put behind them protest over unpaid allowances earlier in the day to win the ultimate prize.
Team Ogun led 18-17 going into the break.

Both teams put up a good fight after the break, but it was the hosts that came out victorious.
Team Ogun will look to complete the double when their men’s team take on rivals Lagos in the men’s final later today.
They have put off a strong showing at the 22nd National Sports Festival.
The men’s team won gold medal in the volleyball event, while women’s team settled for bronze.
