Nuno Demands A Response From Wolves

Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo says his team are struggling and must respond after their 1-0 defeat to Sporting Braga.

The Midlands outfit have now lost three matches in a row in all competitions after another disappointing performance.

Wolves’ first appearance in Europe since 1980 ended in disappointment as they lost in their Europa League Group K opener.

Patrick Cutrone missed two chances in the first half before Wolves were eventually punished for their lack of attacking threat.

Braga midfielder Ricardo Horta finished a quick counter, with Ryan Bennett at fault after conceding possession.

Leander Dendoncker, Raul Jimenez and Willy Bolly all went close to an equaliser, but Nuno’s men found little on home soil.

Defeats to Everton, Chelsea and now Braga have put more pressure on Nuno, who has yet to help his side earn a Premier League win.

The former Valencia coach concedes his side are struggling for confidence, but he has urged them to dig deep when they take on Crystal Palace on Sunday afternoon.

He told reporters: “We realise the situation that we are in. This is important. We face the reality, and the reality says we are not performing well, so we have to analyse it and find solutions in the team to improve.

“We must react immediately. We have to take decisions and find solutions for the team because we have to come out of this situation and improve our performance so we can bounce back.”

Wolves’ only success has come in qualifying for the Europa League, with Nuno’s men second bottom in the Premier League table.

Draws against Leicester City, Manchester United and Burnley have helped them stay above Watford, but time could be running out for Nuno.

He made five changes for Thursday’s encounter and may be tempted to make more as Wolves travel to London.
They then play Reading in the Carabao Cup, before taking on Watford, Besiktas and Manchester City.
