Nwabali Doubtful For Super Eagles Friendlies

Chippa United goalkeper, Stanley Nwabali is doubtful for Nigeria’s upcoming friendlies against Ghana and Mali due to injury.

Nwabali was taken off the pitch during Chippa United’s 2-0 defeat to defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns on Saturday.

The 27-year-old featured for 73 minutes in the keenly contested encounter.

The severity of what is suspected to be a knee injury will only be ascertained in the coming days.

Nwabali alongside two other goalkeepers; Francis Uzoho and Ojo Olorunleke were named in Nigeria’s squad for the friendlies against the Black Stars of Ghana and Eagles of Mali on Saturday.

The shot stopper established himself as Super Eagles first choice at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

The goalie had an outstanding campaign with the Super Eagles finishing in second position.

The Super Eagles will face Ghana at the Grande de Marrakech on March 22.

The friendly against Mali is slated for the same stadium four days later.

Odegbami said obasogie is what the super eagles need between the sticks. Don’t know why the coaches are blind to invite him

  • Author okonkwo if he is fit and active

  • Edoman 6 months ago

Obasogie is a strong keeper if giving the opportunity to expire.

  • Chima E Samuels 6 months ago

Jonathan Rasheed is the real deal but on those with real eyes can tell.
