Nwakali’s Goal Not Enough To Help Ponferradina Avoid Home Defeat Vs Zaragoza

Kelechi Nwakali scored his first goal for new club Ponferradina which unfortunately was not enough to avoid a 2-1 home loss to Real Zaragoza in the Spanish second division on Sunday.

Ponferradina have now lost their last three fixtures in the Spanish second division.

Nwakali, who made his fifth league appearance for Ponferradina, scored in the 44th minute to draw his side level.

The last time Nwakali scored a goal was in April 2021 during his time at Alcorcon in a 2-1 home loss to Leganes.

Giuliano Simeone, who is the son of Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone, got Zaragoza’s two goals in the 12th and 51st minutes.

The defeat leaves Ponferradina in 14th position with six points in the 22-team league table.

You will be doing Justice good by also reporting about the likes of Savior Godwin scoring goals in Portuguese senior division.

  • Very overated in my opinion…..I prefer Alhassan Yusuf to this dude in my midfield any day any time…..Nwakali is too gentle and fragile to be a Midfield player….. Nwakali would have made up for his weakness with an excellent dribbling and ball holding ability but he also lacks there…..His only strength is his passing ability which he does not even bring to the party most times.

They that compare themselves are not wise. Stop comparing people it’s not a wise the thing as the Bible signifies. How can you be comparing a playmaker with a combat defensive midfielder.

      • Football is all about competition both in The same team and in between different teams….. competition brings comparism so what is your problem?…… Please keep your religion to yourself we are here to talk about football…..How can two players competing for the same slot in SE not be compared with each other?…..Ok how will the coach pick the best eleven if he can not compare the quality of the players involved in training?…… Sentiment is what has always killed Nigerian football…..That is why We couldn’t compare and figure out the qualities of Alaba,Eze,and Ebowei who all came and trained right under our noses……Who do Nigerians like this sef?…..tufiakwa!

The goal he scored was nice though.

In my opinion, he’s good at the following:
    1) Long and short range passes
    2) Long range shots at goal
    3) Freekicks and dead balls in general
    4) Crosses into the box
He has the basic skills and technique. What he lacks is the physicality and stamina. And for a midfielder, those are very important. It’s up to him to add that to his game.

Well said Brodaman Pompei. You are one of the few people that make me come here to comment on Nigerian football these days. Nwakali is very good at those things you mentioned. All the coaches that worked with him are not blind to see his talents. He will do well this season.
Heaven bless Nwakali and all deserving Super Eagles players.
