Obuh Resigns As Akwa United  Head Coach

John Obuh has left his post as head coach of Nigeria Professional Football League outfit, Akwa United, reports Completesports.com.

In a resignation letter addressed to the chairman of the club Paul Bassey, Obuh regretted that his “decision to step aside was as a result of some level of discipline and insubodination by some of the players which has caused the team valuable points “.

Meanwhile the club has accepted Obuh’s resignation with “mixed feelings”.

In a letter of acceptance, club secretary Comrade Omon Bassey expressed the “gratitude of the chairman, for the service Obuh rendered to the club during his short stay with the Uyo club.

“Yes, coaches take responsibility when things go awry, yet we can testify to the professionalism and discipline you brought to bear in the running of the club including your untiring belief in the God factor in the life of this great organisation. We will miss you.

“Akwa United wished him well in his future endeavours, “even as we daily strive to restore the confidence of our numerous fans worldwide, especially the government and good people of Akwa Ibom State.”

The Promise Keepers despite their tag as one of the title favourites, picked just one win from their opening eight games this season under Obuh.

Obuh’s assistant, Duke Udi is expected to take charge of the team pending the appointment of a new head coach.

  • Obuh is a good coach, he deserves more. I remember when he guided the Nigerian youth team to the finals of different international competitions. He will land a big job soon.
