OFFICIAL: Okereke Departs Club Brugge For Cremonese On Permanent Transfer

David Okereke has left Belgian champions Club Brugge for Serie A newly promoted side US Cremonese on a permanent move, Completesports.com reports.

Cremonese released a statement on their website on Thursday to confirm the transfer.

“US Cremonese announces that it has definitively acquired the right to David Okereke ‘s sports performances from Club Brugge.

“Born in Lagos (Nigeria) on 29 August 1997, striker, Okereke in Italy played first for Lavagnese and then for Spezia. With the Ligurian team he made his debut in Serie B in 2016 and reached 59 appearances, scoring 11 goals.

“In 2019 he left Italy for Club Brugge. With the Belgians he won two Jupiler Pro League titles and featured 71 times (11 in the Champions League alone) and scored 15 goals.

“In the 2021/22 season he returned to Italy and played for Venezia on loan and found the back of the net seven times in 32 appearances.

“Okereke has also made appearance for Nigeria‘s U-23 team.“

Cremonese was in the Serie A in its first season, 1929–30, but entered a long period of decline, languishing in the lower leagues before the late 1970s.

By 1984, they had achieved promotion to Serie A, with one-year spells in 1984–85, 1989–90 and 1991–92.

In the 2021–22 Serie B, Cremonese finished second to earn promotion to the 2022–23 Serie A.

Despite achieving promotion, Okereke will work under a new coach following the resignation of Fabio Pecchia from his post.

Okereke should be signing for AC Milan, Inter Milan, Juventus or Lazio. Instead he is going to Cremonese. Nigeria players like mediocrity.

An Average NIGERIAN PLAYER do not only have a SHALLOW MENTALITY but a GREEDY one…

I mean why would you LEAVE a team like CLUB BRUGGE for a TEAM that just gain PROMOTION?

    • So you want him to stay and grace their bench, you guys are spectators so do that, just spectate don’t criticize the players when you don’t actually know what is actually going on. So you prefer to stay a Liverpool sitting on the bench than to be a starter for Everton ? Think bro
