Fortuna Dusseldorf goalkeeper Maduka Okoye is happy to make his first appearance for the Super Eagles in Sunday’s friendly encounter against Brazil, reports Completesports.com.
Okoye replaced the injured Francis Uzoho in the 65th minute of the thrilling encounter played at the packed
Singapore National Stadium, Kallang.
He looked calm in goal and proved equal to the task against a star studded Brazilian side.
The 20-year-old is also determined to become a regular in the team.
“Glad to have made my debut for Nigeria 🦅!
It’s a dream come true playing for my beloved country 🇳🇬.
Now it’s time to work even harder!
Wishing my brother @Uzohof a speedy recovery 🙏🏽
Thank you Nigeria!,”he wrote on his Twitter handle.
Okoye will now hope to make Super Eagles squad for next month’s 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Benin and Lesotho.

I love your confidence and quickness which is required for a modern goal keeper against the star studded Brazilian team though you are not well tested yet but it’s good for your confidence. More hard work!
Your composure and calmness is an indication of good things to come. Akpeyi lack all this qualities. My bp has not risen in the last 2 matches we played cos the keepers are relaxed and showed they are ready for the task. Looking at akpeyi face when manning the post shows he lack confidence.
Hehehehe, Ndubuisi, my BP has been quite low as well! Okoye really tried, being so young and playing his debut against such a big team as Brazil. No stage fright, very composed and calm. I think he will do well in the future.
Am Happy for you. I believe that match will definitely boost your confidence. Greater things to come.
Yes the young boy was very comfortable yesterday,i wish he sign for even a second division club in France to boost more his confidence, our team is very good now with all the boys injury free, because we missed kalu and Aina much yesterday, though other guys wasn’t bad,go super eagles go fly higher
Really, did you miss Aina?I reckon Awaziem put in a good shift,he was in my assessment fantastic.
@Greenwich Surely Aina was missed no doubt. Yes Awaziem played well n strong but Aina comes with his own special attacking qualities. Definitely a miss yesterday.
Don’t you think Brazil would have exploited that hole Aina may have left sprinting forward?
From what I saw yesterday Awaziem was solid defensively which was instrumental for the result we got,had Aina played we may find ourselves vulnerable to the incursions of the deadly Brazilian attack
Aina would HV replaced Collins who got tired from too many attack coming from his position.
Yes bro@greenturf the gaps was there but I didn’t say that the other boys was bad,
I tried to see maduka okoye on yutube but no no no until yesterday .and 1st impression yesterday could last long.
