  • Austin Jay Jay Okocha said it before now that he is easily the most technically gifted Nigerian goalkeeper. He will only get better if he avoids the toxic environment of being the national team goalkeeper. In a couple of years, Nigerians will beg him to come back and takeover the number one spot.

  • Maduka okoye is the only Nigerian international goalkeeper playing in a top5 league ATM…he deserves respect.

We judge you by what you do with Super Eagles not your club form. If your club form doesn’t translate to convincing goalkeeping in Eagles shirt, congratulations to your club form. Jonathan Akpoborie was always in form for VFB Stuttgart but constantly flopped in Eagles shirt. Emmanuel Amunike was always plagued by injuries but whenever he puts on a Super Eagles shirt, he played better than Victor Ikpeba (even with one-leg).
I remember a certain James Beatie who was a renowned goalscorer for his club but always flopped with English national team.
Thomas Partey of Atletico Madrid and Arsenal FC has never being the Thomas Partey of Black Stars.

Bottomline, national team football is different from club football. They’re both played with different mentality.

    Congratulations to Okoye anyway.

  • Fantastic. Next he should take lessons from Ekong, Iwobi, Yobo etc on how to manage your ego when in a public space. You can’t have a fragile ego and consistently play for the SE. Even your president says he no longer checks social media for the same reason.

PS: Not supporting SM trolling & bullying. Never done it before, but at the moment, it is what it is.

  • Okoye can not be judged with one game mistake. He switched off thinking he be closed down before taking that short. We have him as the biggest goal keeper at the moment.

Okoye is doing well in the club. Let’s give him another chance in Super Eagles.

A poor performer yesterday can improve and be better tomorrow.
    Such is life.
If he merits it, he should be invited back to the SE.
Word of advice to him. He should stop attempting to dribble his ancestors inside our 6 yard box.
Keep errors to a minimum. Earn the trust of the fans by being reliable and dependable.

If Okoye can keep back to jack clean sheets for Nigeria he will be a hero.
