Oladapo Promises Goodies In Second Reign As NOC Secretary General

It was the beginning of another era in the Olympic family on Monday, 7th of January following the hand over ceremony between Chief Babatunde Popoola (Outgone Secretary General) and Mr Olabanji Oladapo – the new NOC SG.

The brief ceremony which took place at the conference room of the Nigeria Olympic Committee was witnessed by the NOC President, Engr. Habu Gumel and top management staff of NOC.

Olabanji Oladapo, a member of ITTF Board of Directors and the Deputy President of African Table Tennis Federation (ATTF) left the NOC position eight years ago but returned to the seat after defeating Popoola in the last election of the Nigeria’s national Olympic body.

Popoola who was Secretary of the NOC for eight years thanked Engr Gumel, the board of NOC and members of the media for their support during his time in office.

The new NOC SG, Oladapo, stressed on the need to continue with the legacy of the Olympic movement while promising an all inclusive and innovative Secretariat.

“2019 is a busy year for us on the international stage which will dovetail into the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. All hands must be on deck to ensure that we ably represent Nigeria,” Oladapo stated.

“This is a selfless service to humanity as we continue to grow sports and reposition the NOC to a viable brand,” he assured.

Oladapo stressed that Popoola remained a relevant member of the family and will continue to contribute his quota where necessary.
