John Fury has expressed deep reservations over the upcoming December 11 showdown between his son Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium, admitting he wishes the fight had never been booked.
Despite the two heavyweight icons finally set to clash after a decade of rivalry, the 61-year-old fears the loser of the contest will struggle to deal with both the physical toll and the public backlash.

Speaking in the upcoming BBC series Rivals, Fury Snr highlighted the danger of both aging heavyweights damaging their legacies.
“I hope it never happens. They’ll get that much stick, the loser, they won’t be able to cope with it,” he explained.
“Even though these two guys are not at their best, they’ve still got a lot of power and they could still hurt each other. You just don’t want to see either man walk around after being greats for people to laugh at.”
The comments come shortly after John and Tyson repaired their relationship following a period of total estrangement earlier in the year.

However, despite being back on speaking terms with ‘The Gypsy King,’ the elder Fury has ruled out being in attendance in the Welsh capital.
Confirming his absence to Playbook Boxing, Fury Snr revealed he will follow the match from home instead.
“You have more chance of seeing a cow fly than me bothering with it,” he stated. “I don’t like the people in it, and I’m not involved, so I don’t want to go to the fight. I’ll wait for somebody to tell me who wins.”
