Nigerian teenage sensation Adewole Oladimeji has revealed that it was a “special” feeling to help his Northern Cypriot U21 team, Dumlupinar seal their first league and FA Cup double by beating Turk Ocagi Limasol 2-0 in the Cup final on Sunday reports Completesports.com.
Oladimeji who finished as the league top scorer with 27 goals in 39 games described the achievement of winning the double as “unbelievable”.
“It’s never been done in the club’s history and to do it with this group of players feels so special,” he told Completesports.com.
The 19-year-old winger, Oladimeji added that the players were desperate to write their names in the club’s history, which he felt may have played a part in them missing so many chances before he finally made the breakthrough.
“I’m speechless because during the game there were a lot of emotions,” he said.
“We wanted to be the first team at Dumlupinar to win the double – and we also defended the FA Cup, which is an achievement as well.
Oladimeji who was overlooked by Paul Aigbogun for the FIFA U-20 tournament in Poland, however, believes the team is capable of winning following their impressive start to the competition.
“They started well and I believe that against USA they will win as well we just need to support them and ensure they make history.”
“It was sad been left out of the squad but I will look ahead to the next grade which is the U23 team.”
