Onuachu Voted Man Of The Match In Genk’s Win Vs Mechelen

Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu has been voted Genk’s Man of the Match after scoring two goals in their 3-1 home win against Mechelen in the Belgian Jupiler on Sunday, Completesports.com reports.

Onuachu took his goal tally in the league to four in five games after Sunday’s game.

Onuachu is benching Cyril Dessers in their club and scoring goals.dessers must not be invited ahead of Onuachu,I have watched him several times,he can make this team on merit

What is going on at Genk at the moment is really interesting. The emerging rivalry between Dessers and Paul is something to behold. And it poses a great dilema to the national team selectors, cos there is no basis a Dessers will get an invitation and an Onuachu wouldnt. However, we can cut Dessers some slack for the moment, he is still new in the team…he is yet to understand his teammates and his team mates are yet to understand him too….unlike Paul who has already been part of the team….he already understands his team and his team already understands him. But Dessers will really have to tighten his belts as the competition in the SE is even fiercer than at club. He probably has only onuachu to contend with at club level and if he is finding it difficult competition with Paul(a fringe player in the SE), how then will he be able to compete with the likes of osimhen, iheanacho or even an Ighalo (if he rescinds his decision to retire)

Good talk@Drey once again. Anyway, I will always support Dessers get this October friendly, just so he can come show what he can offer. Onuachu, good player though, we have seen him already. Time to see Dessers playing with the quality players in SE . Again like you rightly said, Dessers is only new to that team and still trying to blend into that Genk team chemistry.

I would think the only plausible reason for inviting Cyril Dessers at this time is to cap-tie him (though it may not count since these two games are only friendlies). After this he’ll need to up his game to justify further call ups.

Dessers didn’t even get to play in their last match,I want to see what Rohr will do,I don’t like onuchu in d national team but if dessers cannot displace him, then he shouldn’t be invited

cup tied dessers first, he might be inform tomorrow, no body knows what future holds

  • Paul hasnt impressed for the Super eagles but he is definitely flying for his club. Its obvious there will be a friendly rivalry between both of them at club and country level. But it is at the country level that the competition is fiercest.
I have seen what Paul can do in the super eagles, I want to see what desser can do as well. He is a natural finisher, he scored loads of goals last season in the Netherlands and I rate dutch football higher that Belgian football so I believe he will score many goals this season. Lets see him in the super eagles first, give him some games then decide if he should continue.
