Onyekuru, Ebuehi, Ajayi, Olayinka Replace Osimhen, Balogun, Abdullahi, Dennis In Nigeria’s AFCON Squad

Onyekuru, Ebuehi, Ajayi, Olayinka Replace Osimhen, Balogun, Abdullahi, Dennis In Nigeria’s AFCON Squad

Lively forward Victor Osimhen’s positive test to the coronavirus pandemic a couple of days ago and injury to the versatile Abdullahi Shehu have constrained changes to Nigeria’s final 28-man list for the 33rd Africa Cup of Nations starting in Cameroon next weekend.

The goalkeeping department is untouched, but the forced exclusion of Cyprus –based Shehu, who can slot easily into sections of the defence and midfield, has made way for hard-as-nails right back Tyrone Ebuehi, now with Venezia in the Italian Serie A, and England –based Oluwasemilogo Ajayi returns to the group for Africa’s flagship football championship following injury to centre-back Leon Balogun. Ajayi can also play as a midfielder.

Osimhen’s absence paves way for Greece-based Henry Onyekuru who was also at the last finals in Egypt. In-form rapid raider Emmanuel Dennis, whose English Premiership club is baring fangs, has been excused to provide room for Czech Republic –based forward Peter Olayinka.

The 33rd Africa Cup of Nations finals will end on 6th February.

No Amoo, No Bassey, No Dessers. Omo fans we are Jokers these NFF are not listening to us. I’m done with Football for now…..

    • Naija 2 years ago

The 2022 AFCON will be one of the worst outings for the Super Eagles. Why should Amoo not included in the midfield since we already have enough strikers? Shior!

    • Hahaha, so it’s now NFF that’s not listening to you? When Rohr was in charge, you put the whole blame on him, but now it’s NFF not even Eguavon. You all got what you ask for. Rohr never agree to invite, Olayinka, Nwakali, Idah, but ya all lead a rebellion against a just man, now you are all having heart attack even without kicking the ball yet. As my friend @Dr Drey use to say “na Sidon look we dey”

      • Chima E Samuels 2 years ago

Rohr allowed himself to be used immediately after the Brazil friendly, Rohr lost total control of the team. Observers asked for excellence but they continued going low and low. I can not manage average neither so no one should try and hide away from the truth. Is it not the same Rohr that invited Akpeyi,Noble and Valentine in place of Adeleye, Izuchukwu when he has opportunity to Cap this guys?

        • Naija 2 years ago

Thank you, Chima Samuel’s. I have taken my time to observe you and Omo9ja and I can say you are both very consistent and know what you are talking about. We are still better off without Rohr. He was not a great coach in my opinion. This new Pseiro coach shall fail woefully as well.

        • And pls tell us which tournament Rohr took Valentines and Noble to? Valentine was only used in a friendly against Cameroon to assess his ability, so what came after that 1st invitation? It was your Eguavon that used noble in goal against Mexico in the friendly, I guess they have born Adeleye by then, so. I see no reason “Mr Nonsense” didn’t invite him. Stop castigating Rohr, and turn your frustration elsewhere. You asked for it, you got it, live by it!

        • Chima E Samuels 2 years ago

@Naija One Love but no curses to the new coach but we know he is one of the Anti-Nigeria football agent.

@Ola Stop using that phrase your Eguavoen I never endorsed him. Yes against Cameroon Mr Rohr played Valentine over Izuchukwu and we all know who’s a better player yet he choose a Tata that has not learnt his trade for National team, and Rohr selected the 40 man list that excluded some excellent players like Dennis and Dessers this is what is causing confusion today. Rohr added 4 goalkeepers for christsake just to include inactive Noble. This is what the Eguavoen also inherited. Before you call my name always do your research I won’t waste my time singing old song.

        • King Perry 2 years ago

Are you sure it was Rohr or NFF tampared with his list and force those guys on him. Coming days are gonna be interesting, I will advice we all relax and enjoy as more drama unfolds.

    • No worry world cup is coming. 3 players are bidding by to the team by the end of the nations cup . Two plays in the English league. Guess the third only.

    • Abbey 2 years ago

I totally agreed with you Chima,Cere Deser is far better than Henry Onyekuru who has not scored a single goal for his club throughout this season.Kevin Akpoguma is in a good form but coach Austin refused to invite him,Austin should continue with his politics,Nigerians are watching.

    • Bobo Colorado Springs 2 years ago

The will get their chance after AFCON, the time is too short to invite all new players.

  • Lol,let’s just forget this Afcon abeg, the problems don too much…if we make it out of the group that will be fine …I’m not expecting anything at all

    • Nigeria will make it out of the group stage but I was expect Desser to be included in the final list.

      Well, let’s watch and see.

      Good luck boys.

      • Chinenye 2 years ago

You can’t be relying on “good luck”. The coach is as useless as Rohr. Shebi it’s this Ajayi whose contract was recently terminated by his egyptian club

        • Abdul 2 years ago

Even if you don’t know the Ajayi on that list, at least you can see Westbrom in front of the name, to tell you its not the clubless Ajayi.

        • Which Ajayi please, go and sit down bros, that is another ajayi. This one is a defender was already part of the team before now. He was also at afcon2019

    • onwajunior 2 years ago

We are not even making it out of the group.

      • Chris 2 years ago

I am still wondering why they don’t want to invite Akpoguma who is in a very good form.

  • Crystal Chris 2 years ago

Hmm! This latest development gives Nigeria a coating of unpredictability which they had in 2013. Teams will be playing against the unknown or unfamiliar players.I wish you guys well but my fingers are crossed till finals.

  • Chima E Samuels 2 years ago

This is total embarrassment to Nigeria football so Watford will release out of form Ekong and will hold onto Dennis for reasons per say NFF didn’t send invitation on time. NFF are disorganized groups of idiots no wonder they don’t command respect from anywhere in the world. I feel gutted to the bone NFF need overhauling.

    • Abdul 2 years ago

You are not okay. Were you not one of the leading soldiers here clamoring for Rohr’s sack a month to a tournament, entirely disrupting the stability in the management of the team just a month to a major tournament. Where is that done? What’s wrong with waiting after AFCON before sacking Rohr. You guys should cut the crap and enjoy whatever you get from this tournament. Y

      • Michel 2 years ago

This guy u are very insultive ,u will never make any comment without showing how poorly trained you are .why would u tell him he is not ok.plz go back to cattle grazing if u can’t cope with people’s opinions

        • Abdul 2 years ago

Lol, so, you’ve read many of my comments here and find me insulting people, okay, no problem. And by the name Abdul, you concluded I’m one Aboki from the north, right?. That says a lot about you, and i won’t have to say more.

    • @ China God Almighty will always bless you because you all hit the nail on the head including Dr Drey and few others who always back their statement with facts. We have federation headed by an incompetence, unserious and lazy individuals in the person of Mr. Melvin Pinnick and Dr Sanusi. Watford exploiting the loopholes in administrative lapses of the NFF by not sending the letter of release in time and the club Watford and the coach won the battle. I have always said it over and over again that this federation is never pro-active but only react to events. This is another vivid example after yesterday example on Enyimba Fc. This is definitely the worse organized set of federation we have had in the history of the organization. We are keeping all these records history will tell the story. We are still watching for more. God bless Nigeria.

      • Dr Banks 2 years ago

You all are blaming the NFF but not Ogunefon, who is responsible for releasing the squad list? I s it Pinnick’s job to release the squad list or did Ogunefon release the list on time while NFF refused to send invitation???

Nigerians will always amaze me with their misdirected utterances and grievances. Will Rohr have kept the list to himself until the last day of deadline like Ogunefon did? Istead of him to get down to work immediately his appointment was confirmed, he’d rather be going around granting useless interview here and there. Also wasting precious time writing to CAF requesting to add his boys Nwakali, Noble and Ndah who were not in the original 40-man list.

Now you can see one of the reason a local coach can never take us anywhere, they have no due diligence, do not study or follow the rules, no attention to details and no decorum

Now Onyekuru / Olayinka who has largely been off form this season were called to replace Osimhen Dennis, wingers in for strikers where we have Dessers. Ajayi for Balogun when Bassey could’ve been called.

Ngwa na siddon dey look we dey o

        Nigeria we hail thee!!!

        • @Dr. Banks, thanks for the comment. Let me now add another shocker to Peter Olayinka fans. This issue is a historical one affecting Nigerian players and marrying at a young age or marrying to a wrong person.

The first historical case of this was Rashidi Yekini, after his marriage to a Nigerian woman after USA 94, his form dropped immensely, then followed by Daniel Amokachi, Wilson Oruma, Ramon Azeez and now Peter Olayinka.

I mentioned these names so you can all see, that there is a tradition to forego certain life pleasures if you want to climb high as a sports person.

With the case of Peter Olayinka, from the time he started making waves he was single then. But from the moment he got married in Nigeria to a Naija Yoruba girl, I said to myself that his career was over.

That is the reason to his loss of form. His house issues have affected his career.

This same sort of marriage or dating problem is what affected Lewis Hamilton, until he separated from his wife to be. Before his career came back to life.

Our sports personalities especially football players need to be careful.

          • You not making sense bro. So they shd remain single forever right?

          • Abdul 2 years ago

Ben, I’ve always loved your comments here, but I don’t agree with this one. I don’t think Peter Olayinka’s form this season can be associated with his marriage. He was ready to move away from Sparta Prague, but the deal fell through at the last minute. So, it was hard to get his head back to the game at the beginning of the season, and now he’s picking up again.

          • Must you include Yoruba in your comment? This is not the first time and I may not becwrong to assume that you and your family are enjoying the love, care and resources of a Yoruba state which is what your hatred tribe lacks.
It’s obvious you are lack proper training. Next time, learn to respect all tribes.

          • chuks haifa 2 years ago

What about Ahmed Musa who already has three wives and will soon add a fourth one if care is not taken. How can he concentrate and play with all the family problems from wives, multiple in-laws and his own family. I tire ooh

          • JimmyBall 2 years ago

@Ben… You comment about marriage ruining players career have no scientific backing. Infact it is foolish…

You want this players who are high profile income earners to be at the mercy and risk of women of easy virtue abroad who will trick them and con them out of their money and life possessions right?

Do you know what temptations and risks players especially African players face in the midst of European girls who target their profile… atleast those who are on the fast lane?

These girls time players with forced pregnancies, for child support, have you heard about Ideye, Onyekuru, Celestine, Ujah, mendy, Drogba, Henry and Eboue?

Marriage is meant to be to one who is your friend first, if a Player gets it right marriage has the good fortune to enhance a players career and not make it tail-out…

Your comment above is the reason I hardly notice some folks here with very dull comments… Your assertion regarding players and marriage is very uninformed!

        • JimmyBall 2 years ago

Dr.Banks don’t lie… You can say Onyekuru has had an almost low season so far.

I will disagree with you in the case of Olayinka, apart from being a very good team player and effective player, he started the season injured and came back to a bang since returning from injury.

He know what Olayinka can do, last season he was among the few Nigerian players with a stellar season dumping Rangers and Leicester city from Europe and contributing massively to those feats.

You don’t like a player from how poor your player assessment skills are don’t mean you should screech into a malicious personality attack on such player.

Olayinka deserves to be in that team more than Iwobi based on performances alone in the last 3years… Let’s be objective and not sentimental.

      • Chima E Samuels 2 years ago

Dr Banks and Ben you are both not making sense because if you read very well you’ll realize that we are all making the same point. Most of you just vomit shit without stress. Na wa for una!!!

    • Chima E Samuels 2 years ago

Yes we asked for his sack but seems your memory is dumb, because if you’re clear you’ll know my suggestions as to let Rohr lead to Afcon and be judged by it, and when the sack came we suggested for Amunike, Wubetu Abate and lately Jose Morais but mad NFF as usual choose Peseiro. No come dey yarn nonsense now and less you forget I also called the Nations cup a sacrifice for world cup playoff and if we don’t address that too then na we Sabi.

    • Is a lie not because Watford wanted to hold on to him by all means. The problem is from the player he doesn’t want to play he is feeling god he want the coach to assure him of starting every match how audacious. We told you about that guy arrogant but u never listened this was the same reason the former coach decided to ignore him but cos of your hatred for Rohr u blowned it out of proportion. Go owngoal Nigeria and read the news.. one by one you all regret your actions because Karma is at work

    I just pity Cerezo!

  • Abdul 2 years ago

Amaju and his crew, you guys are a disgrace to the entire continent. All these things are just the common sense behind the “don’t sack Rohr at this time”. That old man was better informed about the availability of these players, and if you guys were not busy debating his sack while you could have sent invitations to these players, somebody like Dennis would have been part of the squad to Cameroon. Despite all these glaring avoidable mistakes, you all have no shame and you won’t come out to apologize to this country. These attitudes and classlessness of people like you is the reason why Nigeria is where it is today. Awon oloshi jatijati….enikuure.

  • Gabriel Iwaloba 2 years ago

I would have picked Amoo in place of Henry Onyekuru. That is the only mistake as far as the late invitee list is concerned.

    • Oakfield 2 years ago

Enjoy the ride mr man. Why are whining like a woman in labour.???? Your heart desires have been granted. So, sit tight and enjoy the ride…. Hahahaha…hohoho…. Hehehehe….. This is just the beginning of your travails. Pls, dont get done with football yet abeg, It’s too early. Hahahaha… Didnt we warn u????? Hahaha… Eweeee!!

      • Heaven wan fall, na one man matter? What’s wrong with you brother man? Stop being childish

  • Sugar Daddy 2 years ago

In fact, I am short of words. How come we have such opportunities to bring Bassey, Amoo, Dessers and Ebuehi but decided otherwise…I am beginning to see the hands of protocols in this.
Just imagine what Emmanuel Denis team is trying to do to the guy and Nigeria. Tell me how Nigerians go ever support this kind of team?

It’s a shame how history is repeating itself again with Eguavon being saddled with this responsibility and the foreign clubs are devicing means of not releasing our players.

See how they strategically snuff Osimhen out of the team and competition now with COVID…nah wah oo!! Please, what’s responsible?

  • Xhuxhu 2 years ago

Chaotic Amaju Picnic led NFF…I honestly don’t expect any good from this outing in Cameroun. Everything about the preparation has been marred and dented by Amaju and his gang. From the sack, to consortium, to Peserio will lead the team if Eguavoen fails to life the cup, to Player withdrawals to not so top notch replacements.. sha, fingers crossed, let’s see how it will turn out.
But in conclusion, if Dennis’ invitation was late, then how late will Semi, Onyekuru, Ebuehi and Olayinka’s invite be and why is Cyriel Dessers conspicuously and continually ignored? Is he really eligible to play for us..or what?

  • Somebody said he pities eguavon. No I don’t pity him. Same way I did not pity Rohr. When you allow infidels like pinnick or nff to control your common sense, then you will face the sticks. No pity for anyone. I don’t share in their salary. Just like some people will die to defend Rohr. I won’t. If you allow yourself to be used, you will face the sticks no matter who you are..

So akpoguna or bassey can’t replace balogun. Ajayi that has got lots of chances but have failed to prove himself..

So amoo can’t be encouraged to gain more experience for future. What a waste. Oh I missed westehof. He was only successful because he bypassed nff and was attached to vice president then – Augustus aikomu.

Eguavon you are a fool with this list and replacement..

On Dennis. So the invitation for ekong came earlier. Something is not right..and nff will not tell us anything.

    What a country!!!!

  • Alphonsus Gbefumu 2 years ago

All this goes to show us one thing, time. In times like this, arrangements are done hastily to meeting expectations, there can’t be two ways about that. I think we should be hopeful because with the arrays of players now invited, we are certainly going far and possibly winning the cup. The NFF being the regulator has my support.

  • Sean T 2 years ago

Amaju and his cohorts are only doing business with the Team. My fellow fans make we no give ourself headache. Who don’t know that after Osimhen, Taiwo and Dennis, Dessers is above the rest of the strikers. This people are just bunch of thieves selling slots to underserved players. If not why on earth will they leave Dessers, Bassey, Izuchukwu and the young Amoo out in the first place and now that they have the opportunity to replace them with the injured and unavailable players, why did they still failed to extend invitation to them. Pinnick and Eguaveon himself know Dessers, Bassey, Izuchukwu and Amoo will be good addition but because they want to sell slots, use the afcon to advertise their players whom if fortunately sign by an European clubs, get their cuts or percentage from. Just like a Promoter and upcoming musician. As for me, i will just see the Eagles games am able to bcos am not expecting anything spectacular. Algeria, Senegal, Cameroun and Morroco are the favourites for this Tournament.

The good news be say quota aided shehu abdulahi has reduced the number of redundant Eagles

    • Adeniyi 2 years ago

Tribalism kill you there!!! So Shehu’s inclusion is unjustifiable but Onyekuru’s is right? SMH! When things don’t go our way we are quick to cry foul. • Footballfanatic 2 years ago

Can you Imagine Shehu lying earlier in the week that reports claiming he was injured were untrue. The most crucial question is why is Dessers continually ignored??? I hope foreign born players start turning us down because these fools really think we have a league that can produce players and the truth is we just dont have it like we used to. This guy has shown the most hunger a y foreign born has shown but he is being ignored is there something we dont know. We can all see that with the injury crisis the 4th goalkeeper option is a total waste of slot. Honestly this will be the first Afco. Where I am not expecting anything better they just use it as a dress rehearsal for the play offs. Amaju is bad luck and needs to be kicked out so much nonsense going on…… How can a club hold back a player from a major tournament can you do that during the euros??? Can they seek Fifa’s bid or something?

  • Papafem 2 years ago

If we talk of incompetence, Nigeria is a great exponent. Why will a player miss out on a major tournament because some people failed to respect players release guideline? How on Earth will this happen to a nation in 21st century? And the most anonying thing is this will go unpunished.

Can someone tell me who was punished when Sheu Abdullahi played as an inelligibld player against Algeria in 2017?

Can someone tell me who faced the music when Nigeria U-17 players’ passports were forgotten in Lagos in 1997 CAF U-17 qualifying series, and nobody knew until the players entered the field against Benin Republic in Ibadan?

Can someone tell me who faced the music when $200,000 disappeared from NFF’s safe at the glasshouse a few years ago?

Can someone remind me who went down for negligence when Super Eagles jerseys were left in the hotel in Ota and nobody knew until they got to the field of play in Lagos? Infact that day in 1991, scissors had to be used to cut players’s track suits into jerseys for Nigeria to play!

When Bolaji Ojo Oba’s department messed up the list Nigeria sent to CAF for Mali 95 U-17 championship, 7 players were disqualified, and Nigeria went out of the tournament in the first round. We wasted a generation of players , very talented team.

Many people have forgotten in a hurry how Nigeria missed out of Germany 2006 FIFA WC. NFA officials, surprisingly, failed to interpret the head-to-head rules concerning the qualifying tournament for that WC. This cost the Super Eagles the trip to the Mundial and Ibrahim Galadima, the then NFA President, lost his second term bid to return to the Glasshouse. As a matter of fact, until the last minutes, NFF still believed that Nigeria was ahead of Angola on goal difference even if the match involving the two teams in Kano ended in a barren draw. Angola progressed to Germany having won the first leg in Luanda 1-0.

This is becoming really annoying, I must say, and a big turn off for any serious minded individual. I can imagine what goes through the mind of Dennis now, knowing at 25, he would be missing his first AFCON, not because he is injured or sick, but because unscrupulous, highly incompetent individuals in Abuja couldn’t do their job. So disheartening! No one should blame a Nigerian player, born and bred in a saner clime, who wakes up tomorrow and declines Nigerian advances to.play for the national team.

  • Dr. Drey 2 years ago

Hehehehehe…release 40 Man list submitted to you by Rohr since Nov….Release 40 man list submitted by Rohr….Mbanu..! Dem hoard am like petrol during June 12/Abacha era, so that they can smuggle in an smuggle out their many “phone callers” and “wild card” players. Till tomorrow, for the first time in the history of Nigerian football, the provisional list of a team preparing for a major tournament was never officially released by the FA…….LMAOooooo

40 man list became 37 man list overnight. Hot players like V Moses, Dessers, Amoo, Adeleye, Akpoguma, Bassey, etc disappeared from provisional list. Mediocres who were not even part of any of both lists suddenly jumped into the final squad out of the blues as “wild cards” (wild cards with zero stats/performances)….LMAOOoo….eventually invitation letters were sent late because they where busy fighting over slots of players to invite and a sensible club decided to cash in on it and exploit the administrative gaffe to stop a player currently hot on form and carrying much hope.

NFF and “our own” 9 wise men, I hail una o…..LMAOooo. I hope too many cooks are not already spoiling this soup.

We are practically going to AFCON low on team chemistry with a new coach(es) and an “international observer” 1 week to the tournament. LMAOOoo

The issue of 2 years bonuses owed the players still dey ground o. I hope there wont be a strike in Cameroon. No wonder they’ve been trying by every means to limit the number of foreign borns in the team to a minimum. They know those ones (like D’Tigers and D’Tigress players) will vent back at them without fear or fervor.

How not to win an AFCON by Amaju Pinnick and his “liberation fighter” skivvies on CSN.

    Na sidon look we dey.

    • God bless you Dr.Drey. When I was saying this thing about early announcement of Rhor’s 40 man list to allow early player release, some idiot on this forum in the name of Mirah was saying I was looking for my own player. When I say some people don’t know their left from their right now, they will say another thing.
Please where are all our scapegoats – Segun Odegbami, Sunday Dare, Omo9ja, JimmyBall, Chima E Samuels, Larry and Ugo “blabbermouth” Iwunze. Shey you can now see your change and patriotic Nigerians slogan.

Continue, there is more coming on the way. AFCON never start, Nigeria is already in disarray.
Stop dont sack Rohr, una no hear, don’t campaign against Rohr, they say they want to fail with our own.

Now you see why foreigners are always winning contracts and jobs in Nigeria ahead of Africans. First there is skill, then the most important factor is organization. Not one or the other.

      We day siddon look.

    Fifa’s help**

  • Please can someone explain if it was NFF’a fault not sending the invitation early or Rohr did not include Dennis at all in the preliminary 40 man list. I’m confused cuz they got Ekong’s invitation early but how come Dennis?

    • Chima E Samuels 2 years ago

@Footballfanatic Rohr is the cause for Dennis exclusion, he never liked him and NFF slotted him in lately then again Watford took advantage of the lateness. Nigeria football is in its worst moment and Bleeding from mediocrity!!!

“Rohr is the cause for Dennis exclusion….NFF slotted him” in indeed….LMAOooo

This is another link to buttress the fact that Rohr had Dennis and many other deserving players in his initial list submitted to NFF only for them to play kalokalo with our AFCON destiny…..LMAOooo. All of a sudden people who were not in either the 40-man nor the 37-man list are not making the final squad through the backdoor ahead of those who were listed…..LMAOoooo.

You wanted excellence….LMAOooo…I hope you are enjoying your excellence now…..LMAOooo.

My brother, them not releasing the list to the public was 100% intentional, there was no way they would allow that ‘senile old mechanic’ deny them of some raw cash this Christmas period.

How people who were never even shortlisted are even making the final squad ahead of those who were shortlisted (when they aren’t injured) is mindboggling. Imagine Bassey, Akopguma, Dessers, Amoo, Adeleye…our best players whom we saw even in European competitions, not being part of our final squad to Cameroon….LMAOooo

There was no official provisional list released by the NFF till they released the 28 man squad. The credibility of owngoalnigeria can be questionable at times cuz no other outlet posted any leaked 37 man list and it is true Rohr never liked Dennis..but the NFF is still culpable if Ndah can get an invite early why not Dennis?

      • Dr Banks 2 years ago

@Chima you are a born-liar with no shame. Rohr’s 40-Man list has been in the news as early as November where it was confirmed that Dennis is on the list. GR even mentioned it in his interview with ESPN Collin.

@Chima wrote …..”Owngoal also gave a news about Rohr saying Dennis invitation question was disgusting please go and search that as well”. Shameless black liar, this was during a chat with fans on Elegbete TV before the Liberia and Cape Verde match and not referring to AFCON list

Guys stop misinformation on this platform just to press home your agenda, you are not different from the useless Pinnick and his cohorts

      • Chima E Samuels 2 years ago

@Football Fanatic a sight showed the 40man list that was leaked to Raineri this was how come they could tell that Dennis was added late. Infact in the first list I was shocked not to see Dessers and Bassey. At this Nigeria football is just going through a Chaotic time.

        • @Chima, just stop ridiculing yourself for once and accept the fact that the Eguavoen did not do his work on time. This is not the first time Nigeria will suffer late call ups due to non release of lusted players. Even Eguavoen said it last week that he had similar challenges in 2006. But my question is to you and those other forumites insinuating that Watford and Dennis coluded not to release him is, if Eguavoen suffered this same problem in 2006 with certain players being held back by their clubs, why did it take him time to release his list to the press so we can confidently say he has learnt from his past experience.

It just goes to show that he hasn’t learnt anything new about organization and performance since 2006. Period

  • Oseodion Inegbenebor 2 years ago

I can understand how you feel and much we will all miss Osimhen in Afcon. I share in your concerns though some comments here fell short of standard. I will leave that behind for now.

What’s obvious right now is that whether it’s Coach Eguavoen as the boss or Coach Jose Peseiro in an observer’s status, they need to be given more time to build a team we will all desire, a team we can be proud of, a team to rule the World. Believing that we are all concerned on how to move our football forward.

Concerning the invited lads who will now serve as replacements, I would say the NFF is leveraging on the means to make the end, they have done well and don’t deserve any backlash. Just may be Henry Onyekuru, other players are good. And for Amoo and co, their time will come.

  • GLORY 2 years ago

They were busy arguing about quota system regarding invitation of players, as well as who amongst the players that will do better business with them and in the process ended up dispatching in invitation late.

These NFF lots are pure breed of lowest form of animals far below the class of milipedes.

FROM TODAY GOING FORWARD, THESE FOLLOWING GROUP MUST BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DOWNWARD TRAJECTORY OUR FOOTBALL FOLLOW; SEGUN ODEGBAMI, EX INTERNATIONALS/SELFISH FANS; WHO HAVE BEEN VERY VOCAL AGAINST ROHR TO INFLUENCE A TWEAK IN HIS SECOND CONTRACT, THE ENTIRE NFF, THE MEDIA, AND FOOTBALL AGENTS EVER DISGUISING AS FANS.

WITH THIS RECENT DEVELOPMENT, WHICH HAS LEFT THE TEAM IN TOTAL DISARRAY, ITS DEFINITELY GOING TO TAKE A MIRACLE TO WIN ANYTHING AND EVEN IF THAT HAPPENS, ONLY A FOOLISH PERSON WILL EXPECT ANY MORE GOOD FROM THIS WHOLE SET UP. THAT WINNING IF EVER, WILL ONLY BE A CLIMAX LEADING TO A DOWNWARD TREND. NIGERIA FOOTBALL HAS HEARTLESSLY BULLIED/OFFENDED AN INNOCENT MAN TAKING FULL ADVANTAGE OF HIS TRUST/HUMBLE NATURE TO SET HIM UP FOR FAILURE. YOU STRUGGLED TO PAY HIM FOR MONTHS BUT HAS BEEN QUICK TO HIRE ANOTHER WHO YOU GONNA PAY 3 MONTHS UPWARDS.

THIS IS MY VERY LAST COMMENT ON NIGERIA FOOTBALL UNTIL THE ENTIRE WAY OF DOING THINGS CHANGES, MAYBE WITH SOME SENSIBLE PEOPLE TAKING CHARGE OF OUR FOOTBALL. FOR THOSE FOOTBALL AGENTS DISGUISING AS FANS AS WELL AS EX INTERNATIONALS SO DESPERATE TO SURVIVE ON FOOTBALLERS HENCE EVER READY TO DESTROY ANYTHING AS LONG AS IT DOESN’T PROFIT THEIR POCKETS, ENJOY WHILE IT LAST. Confusion everywhere. Chaos everywhere. Everywhere scatter scatter! Hahahaha. We warned u people long ago when this storm was looming but nobody listened. Some said they prefered failing with our own and were all fixated on sacking a man who was already on course to give us the cup. Now, the entire football loving nigerian community has been thrown into chaos and total darkness just bcs of the irrational decision of a few bunch of miserable idi… ts with the support of some insensible stupid goats here on this forum. Who sacks a coach just few days prior to a major competition???? Where is it done???? At least, history shouldve taught us a very big lesson but unfortunately, that same mistake has been repeated yet again with the expected unpleasant consequences. Why didnt u leave the man to at least take his team to the nations cup. if he fails, u will now have a justifiable reason to give him the boot but u decided otherwise. It appears, they knew rorhr was gonna perform better than he did last time, hence, in order to prevemt him from achieving that feat and ensure they had their evil corrupt ways back since rohr has not allowed them to play their evil games, they had to remove him immediately without considering the consequences. Corruption and wickedness are our major problems in this country. I hope everybody is now happy with what is happening.?? U wanted change, and here u have it. Ndi ara….. Pls, make una remind that new whiteman that he must play tiki taka football, beautiful good football like brazil whilst bamboozing any team that we meet whether big or small. Eguavon should be reminded also that the reason why he was put in charge with just few days to the competition is bcs he is believed to be the man to give us the cup that eluded the “mecahnic ” coach in his first attempt. Hahahaha….. Case closed…. Karma is a bitch!!!

    • @Oakfield, pls don’t make laugh too much until I break my ribs here oo.. It’s my Holiday with my family, let me enjoy it in peace… Lolz.. Let the “let us fail with their own” brace up for the long “interesting” ride. I give them my full support bcs that cup is very important to me.. Lol… They ( the consortium of coaches) must bring that cup home!!! Very big must! After all, they sacked rohr for coaches who would ensure we play tiki taka football, bamboozle our opponents and bring the cup home… I don go buy new television already so that i can enjoy the games wella…. See how they will play tiki taka football… Hehehe… Happy new year!!!!!

You woke up, gave a coach 16 days to an important competition and expecting miracles. For where? Many of these issues would continue to crop up till the football administration goes through the Belgium Blueprint. BB isn’t a knee jerk approach, that is the beauty. The coaching crew would need more time otherwise commenters knowingly or unknowingly would continue to polute CSN forum with noise and nobody is listening and they won’t change. Our country must do the right thing to put a stop to angry populace. I think NFF is wasting time to effect this change for us.

  • Lol. Ajayi and Onyekuru in? Dennis and Osimhen out? No Lukman. No Dessers? Abeg, let Nigeria withdraw from Afcon! I think that’s better now. All these chaos is giving me migraine.

So Ranieri and Watford lawyers won due to repeated administrative blunders by Pinnick and his gang of jokers on the board. Even after Enyimba won CAF Confederation cup first leg 2-0 against Al-Itihad, the ticket was cluelessly handed to the Libyans on a platter of gold due to sheer administrative harakiri.

Abeg, make we just scatter everything nah. Let’s withdraw and off everything abeg. I no do again.

There’s more to the sacking of Rohr than meets the eyes. His sack was hurriedly prepared without thinking of the consequences that actions will bring.
Something wasn’t right and I believe a few people at top places headed by Pinnick engineered all this evil stirring pandemonium in our football at the very wrong time.
I believe Rohr wasn’t easy to manipulate. There could be various other issues behind the back but I know Rohr and his grounds will always be for a good course.
The reasons for sacking that good man didn’t hold water Pinnick lied to Nigerians Rohr’s sacking was done to settle personal beef. Its all self nothing to do with the interest of the country as stated by Pinnick, today things have gone south and we are in a state of disarray.
God help Nigeria the reason we haven’t won this cup more than 3 times has to do with history of poor decisions by poor administrators.

@Jide, it is a Blueprint for success. It comes with hard work, no argument, no abusive languages, no noise. It involves local people coming together to look inwards, devicing a means to meeting set out targets. In our case, Eguavoen will be given say 4 years contract or more, to develop our football space right from the youth stage(u15, u17, u20) then the senior national team. It means no matter the outcome in Cameroon, Eguavoen should be allowed to carry on the job because BB is based on local control, however, Coach peseiro could remain in observation position while making contributory inputs. I could continue.

Those complaining about Ajayi’s inclusion need to relax and shine their eyes o! It looks like you people are sleeping on Ajayi’s skills as a defender/footballer? If it were me choosing he would be ahead of Balogun all day long and this is not me criticising Balogun because he is a good plaeyer too but for me Ajayi is in front so me personally I thank God for Ajayi’s inclusion and I hope people see this time that he is currently one of our best.
I am very disappointed about Bassey not getting called, I know he is very young but he is exactly the marauding powerful full back that we need, it’s like God built him with the exact attributes to represent 9ja a country renowned for it’s physical sports stars!
Finally, I cannot believe that Ranieri was allowed to deny the country of Dennis, I am personally very dissapointed in that and I will blame Ranieri if we lack anything from a forward perspective in this game and will also no longer passively support Watford as I did Chikena!
Amoo, I don;t know much of but have seen him in Youtube and he looks powerful and sensational – reminds me of a young strong Oba Martins

  • _Rohr Sacking is Proving Untimely_

Gernot Rohr was not a perfect coach and one who drew a lot of criticisms from me owing to the brand of football the Super Eagles played under him recently.

But I was vehemently against his sacking on the basis of one thing: TIMING.

The time was very precarious with just weeks before the Afcon where Super Eagles fans were hoping to win. Now morale is at an all time low with the turn of events following the axing of the controversial German coach.

    So, what has been happening:

    1. An East European coach was rumoured to be invited only to discover that he does speak English.

    2. Eguavoen was appointed with a consortium of local coaches.

    3. A controversial list was released.

    4. Eguavoen will lead the team to the Afcon.

    5. No, a foreign coach will lead the team to Afcon.

    6. Finally, Eguavoen will lead the team and the foreign coach will ‘observe’ proceedings.

    7. Eguavoen will get the job on a permanent basis if he wins the Afcon.

    8. No, Eguavoen will relinquish the post even if he wins the Afcon (my question is what motivation will Eguavoen now have to do well in the tournament?)

    9. By the 30th of December, rather than have a bubbling camp, only a handful of players have trickled into camp where they are fiddling their thumbs instead of training whilst chaos engulfs around them.

Gernot Rohr was in touch with the players and, by mid-November, he was already priming them for afcon preparations.

By now the team may have had mini-training sessions and would already be perfecting strategies ahead of Nigeria’s first match rather than the banquet of burlesque that the preparations have descended into.

Anyway, what I can only hope for is for these distractions to slowly fade into the background when hostilities begin in Cameroon. Having said that, my expectations have plummeted badly following the shambles that has prevailed after Rohr was sacked.

  • Ali Gafar 2 years ago

Tor. Nigeria first is better than angry. Now we have portugal oyinbo man, he will be in stadium for yaoundi, observe, then se is winning the gold with our cerezo as local content. It is good news as everybody is happy, mostly Nigerians. Now we have new players just invited to replace, it is good. Up up se, up my fatherland with all heart.

  • Shebi una don see say two weeks is enough for a coach to prepare a team for tournament? Tomfoolery people dey use Tuchel and Lampard scenario as if club football nah the same with national team.

As for me and my household, my calculator is for my financial aptitude and financial aptitude only…hahahaha.

  • We can all not speak with the same tongue but our Super Eagles is what should come first. The problem started when Coach Eguavoen was given only a limited time to prepare the lads. Where we are now is to look ahead, support own own to win the cup. For those of you who are angry and abusing officials, kindly take heart since everyone is ok and will still be alright after the tourney. What we must ask for is local Nigerians to manage our football. NFF has to do that for us but not by making noise. If they refused, we will call for the replacement of the NFF by a white expatriate consortium. That everywhere will be white people. We can also do that to our governors who did not perform, replace them with oyinbo people just like we have pesaro to replace a local coach of SE.

    • So coach Egu did not know that the time is short before he decided to accept the offer?

For every action their will always be a reaction and we are responsible for all of our decisions. It’s very clear to see that Egu was interested in that position if not he should have decline the offer knowing too well that the time is short.

      • Chipi 2 years ago

You guys should calm down. What if SE win AFCON. With this team below:
        Uzoho

        Aina, Ndidi,Awaziem,Ebuehi

        Chukwueze, Onyeka, Aribo, Ejuke.

        Iheanacho,Awoniyi

  • Hassan Fia 2 years ago

You make sense. Only that Onyekuru has no business on that list. I believe everything is ok with our super eagles.

  • Cant imagine how Dennis didn’t receive his invitations at the same time as ekong. Poor administration from nff. Now, not only is Osimhen missing the afcon but also dennis and leon balogun. Shehu was always a doubt despite claims of not being injured. The good news is we have players on stand by to replace them. The only issue now is the blending of the team and tactics to be employed. I still believe the team can spring a few surprises at the Afcon. A team is not made up of one man. And im expecting all who have been given a chance to represent the country to give their best. Things are certainly looking interesting for the Super Eagles.
I wonder the formation the coach will use and who starts for the team. Its like a new beginning as we enter a new year for the Super Eagles team. I cant wait for the first game.

  • Shaiii see wahala, but somebody should enlighten me here, this rule apply to only epl teams or what? Because how come onyekuru, Olayinka, Ajayi that NFF just send invitation to would be release by their respective clubs but Dennis that have been notify days before won’t be release? Again NFF make us to understand that even if they just send the invite out yesterday, it’s still within the 10days limit, this whole thing to me seems like the more you look the less you see, is it right for me to assume Dennis is not patriotic enough, because one would expect some fight as I’m very sure VO would have drag the club back n forth if this happen to him. Hummm now our hope hang on awoniyi, Sadiq and ighalo, to me this lads are capable but for not been integrated into the team early enough.

  • I hope everybody has been having lovely festive. On the issue of SE and an Afocn I have now completely lost interest in due to this bane of existence known as NFF, Terrible decisions frm Nigeria. The sending Dennis an invite late is terrible. That also goes to show that the story that Ademola lookman is not cleared is a lie. NfF are playing thier cards and at a very embarrassing and abysmal way. I mean wht the hell made them send Dennis an invite late. When we fans have been clamouring for him for over 4 months prior to Afcon. This is a disgrace. NfF are systematically disorganings this team and the actions they are taking are laughable this was a simple case. OF Dessers, Lookman and there was no reason for this story we are hearing about Dennis afcon submission coming late. Disgrace of a football association and we will have a dissapointing 2022 when the writing was on the wall for a successful one. Naija in a nutshell.

Guys let’s put our thinking cap on, how is it possible that Ekong’s invitation email got to Watford before Dennis email? Invitation letter for all players will be sent to each and every team involved on the same day on the same standardised composition……..they will only need to add the club’s name and Player’s name for each of them and then click send……Gbam

Below is the real reason Dennis was retained by Watford while Ekong was released. Watford will not be inconsistent in their dealings as this will count against them in a legal tussle or should NFF report them to FIFA.

This story by own goal seems to provide the real reason for Watford to hold onto Dennis. I said it before that Dennis is a great player but I don’t see him getting far in this game because of his indiscipline and poor mannerism.

He actually asked that he should be given assurances that he will start all SE games at AFCON, otherwise he should be left alone in Watford as he is guaranteed of being in the starting eleven for all Watford games.

    • Naija 2 years ago

I am beginning to believe what people have been saying about the guy Dennis that he’s an arrogant player.

    • Thank you @Dr Bank. I have not even read your comment before I posted a comment about sabotage or collaboration. I think Dennis need to be looked into very seriously. I see why Rohr kept on leaving him out because of indiscipline. If this story is true, he should be shut out of the team for life. He just shot Nigerians where it hurt most. I hope the story is not true. Though everything points out to the fact that Dennis deliberately planned to stay back.

Innocent bonke will replace ndidi, cos ndidi will soon be injured before afcon starts

  • 1. I think we have started falling for none sense again.
    2. So rohr would do better. Big lie. Rohr had all the chances and he never invited Dennis. He has his own boys. He never invited amoo. He had his own boys. Rohr was low on confidence concerning oour chances of winning afcon. It’s like we have forgotten..

    3. We will continue to cry until a coach who can stand by his own decisions come on board. If foolish amaju or nff is influencing you, resign and gi away. That’s honorable. We should stop making it look as if Chima was bad when he was kicking against what rohr was doing. Rohr became foolish too. Clueless Moses Simon was always getting the nod to start. Moses scroed no goal and couldn’t get a single cross in many matches. So rohr supporter it is childish to bring in Rohr here..

    4. Can we stop falling for the tricks of nff and Watford and maybe Dennis? Something went wrong. I want to believe there is a sabotage here. How can ekong received a letter and Dennis did not release. Then ranieri did not start talking about that until about a week after the list was made official. And nff is not even fighting this. If Dennis invitation was late, then what about if it was Dennis being called upon to replace other players. Something is not right. I refused to be a fool fighting unnecessary things when a sabotage and a collaboration has just happened between nff, Watford and maybe Dennis himself. The truth will surely come out one day.

    5. As I have always maintained here. Eguavon the campaign to throw you out has started from me already even before afcon. Many of these coaches have povery mentality. Th y always want to dance to the tune of foolish pinnick and nff. If you can’t invite your own players, resign honorably. Rohr was strict in the beginning and was inviting players in merit but he became foolish probably because he does not want to lose his job.

    6. This is a big shame indeed. One day pinnink era will end. And for eguavon, you have failed even before starting.

    7. @Jimmyball @Chima @Sportsfan @Omo9ja @Deo, @Glory and others thanks for your balnaced view on these issues on this forum.

  • @Femi,just say that you haven’t noticed that trend and I will understand. Football is a very competitive sports that needs your mind and body in one place, not drained and tired. Even Sir Alex Ferguson had issues with David Beckham’s performance when he was married. He had to be doing house calls to David Beckham’s house just to make sure that David was in the right place to play a game.
Also many foreign pros actually get married in their late 20’s, just to ensure that they can still perform on the pitch.
Now ask yourself, how old is Peter Olayinka now that he got married??

He is not even in his mid twenties. I can get you that this is the major reason for his slump in performance.

It happens to all sports stars, including track & field. Another question for you Femi, is Grain Bolt married???

Anthony is far better. Onyekuru cannot give what he doesn’t have. Mr. Eguavoen made an error there.

  • JimmyBall 2 years ago

There has always been attempt by owngoal to maliciously slam certain players… Dennis inclusive.

A one sided story is very dangerous, I will take this news and it’s veracity with some doubts. Let us wait to hear from the player…

But a team that the likes of Onyekuru is being invited to stroll to camp when he has not been able to cope with serious level football junektting from one redemption club to another and through which time he has not been able to muster any real performace worthy of National team call-up… if Dennis would ask if he is guaranteed a starting spot I won’t completely bash him.

What have we witnessed in the past? Players being played on sentimental and “I get am before… Musa” reasons.

If any player should be called in place of Osimhen, it should be Anthony Nwaekeme, he is by far a better player than Onyekuru and has backed it up in consecutive seasons in Turkey.

Finally, I am more than elated Peter Olayinka is finally in the squad, as well as Ajayi(I believe he is decent and multifunctional).

I still don’t believe anything from owngoal. they lie like dr dry. All of a sudden dennis decides to pick Watford over Nigeria because he wants to start. Thats very funny. • Monday 2 years ago

    @ Christian ministries.

I almost thought you are mad. Well, don’t mind Tiray, I no send am. He puts you back to line, now you have a better comment. To be candid, Onyekuru has no business in afcon. Amoo should be invited to replace him.

    • He has repainted’, of good behavior.

Let’s be guided. We should be aware that some of this players have asked to be omitted from Afcon and you surely will not expect NFF to tell the world that. So the are only protecting the interests of these players.

  • Same issue he had with rohr tho… If this is true then I wish him goodluck with whatever country he’s gonna play for.. Because with him in the team they gonna be bad omen with is teammate with the mindset of am better than you all

  • Baring any improved show, I see only Ebuehi getting game time, of the three late invitees.

No Osimhen, no Emmanuel Denise, attack seemingly weak.

  • Dr. Drey 2 years ago

@ Chima, you are such a desperate liar. Your children should be afraid and ashamed of you….LMAOoo

No.1 I looked through the score Nigeria website link you posted and I laughed at how score nigeria just succeeded in shooting in the foot, the same Eguavoen and NFF they were trying to protect….LMAOooo

Hahahaha…see shameless lairs trying to cover “their owns”…..LMAOooo.

Your cheap lying website is claiming that Rohr submitted a 37-man squad to CAF and that Eguavoen submitted Dennis name as a 38th name to CAF list…..but the picture attached to the story shows a 40 MAN LIST….lmaoOOO.

Please who eventually now added the 39th and 40th name on the list….?…LMAOooo

Up till today, all we have been hearing from the Nigerian press is that NFF submitted 37 man list to CAF, while Rohr granted an interview with Elegbete where he stated clearly that he submitted a 40 man list to the FA to sumit to CAF, so if it were a 37 man list, How come there are now 40 NAMES in that picture….? LMAoooooo

If there was space for Eguavoen to add 3 extra names to the list, why was he now lamenting before that he would love to add Nwakali, Alhassan, Amaoo and some homebased players when he supposedly had succeeded in adding a certain Dennis successfully…???

Why was the SE provisional list to AFCON NEVER OFFICIALLY RELEASED BY THE NFF

    The list of names on that picture has the following names;

    29- Innocent Bonke
    30 – Chidera Ejuke
    31- Nobel John
    32- Terrem Moffi
    33 – Peter Olayinka
    34 – Sadiq Umar
    35- Sam Kalu
    36- Akpoguma Kevin
    37 – Ademola Lookman
    38 – Dennis Emmanuel
    39 – ozornwafor Velntine James
    40 – Amamchi Augustine Iwuji

So how come the so-called 37-man list later leaked to the public as the one sent to CAF by Rohr did not have Olayinka, ozornwafor, and Austin Iwuji (aka Austine Amutu) in them…??? LMAOoooo.

So ITS A FACT THAT ROHR ACTUALLY SUBMITTED A 40 MAN LIST WHICH INCLUDED DENNIS WHICH WAS SOMEHOW DOCTORED INTO A 37 MAN LIST by God knows who AND LATTER INTO ALL THESE IDUMOTA MARKET CALLUPS WE ARE SEEING NOW

    NO2

The Owngoal link you posted to support your lies was an interview granted on the 3rd of November, shortly after the list for the WCQ vs Liberia and Cape verde were released…..FAR FROM WHEN THE 40 MAN CAF/AFCON LIST WAS EVEN COMPILED.

The caf/afcon list was compiled AFTER our last WCQ vs Cape Verde and by the 1st of December Owngoal gave us scoops about the contents of the list, making us to understand the fact that Dennis, Dessers and 5 others inccluding lookman and Ejaria were in the list compiled by Rohr.

Yet you want to force the narrative that the link you posted was refering to the CAF/AFCON list which was NOT even in existent yet, rather than the list for the final WCQ later that november….LMAOooo.

Dont be so despereate as to start gushing lies out of your mouth and making declarions as if you were physically present when it was happened. As you always claim, you are a father and have children…you cant be caught telling such white lies in public…..LMAOoooo

God is beginning to expose them all one bey one o…..LMAOoooo.

See controversies all over the place about provisional list. I thought all these things would come to a full stop after Rohr is gone….LMAOooo

From the statement released by raneire coach of Watford it is obvious Dennis refused fighting to play in Afcon… “he has double mind”. This is unbelievable, who rejects playing at the Afcon a tournament that is the desire of any African player..
The nff did the right thing replacing him, no player is bigger than the super eagles. You don’t bring someone to fight a war when his mind is at home.

    To the players coming in

Onyekewere: he has Afcon experience and was very effective in his last game against cape Verde at their home

Ebuhi: he would bring out the best in aina.. a regular starter lately in his club in Italy. A good player with world cup experience

Ajayi: he can also operate in midfield where oftions are few.. I will pick ajayi ahead of bassey why because in bassey two favorite positions we have more than enough options, shehi the only cover for ndidi And onyeka is out and it is very risky going for a tournament without a third option.. this is covid era.

Olayinka: we lost two front men and there is need to add at least one front man to replace them. He is not the best we have ( my view) but he might be there for the exposure..

    • JimmyBall 2 years ago

@Ololo… Olayinka is there on merit and to play when called upon. He has experiences that are already above the level of AFCON he has played Champions league and Europa League… So what exposure is he coming for again? He has better exposure than more than half of the other guys on the squad list… So please give respect to whom respect is due.

      • Profjeff 2 years ago

You don’t even rate afcon.Experiences above the level of afcon….if a white man said this, everybody will start screaming disrespect.

        • JimmyBall 2 years ago

@Profjeff… respond to me in context. The soccer ball in Afcon is not sphere while the one for Champions league is square.

How many players from Mauritania, Sudan, Ethiopia, Equatorial Guinea have played in UEFA Champions league or Europa League since the history of their country?

Now piece my message in context of Olayinka’s experience and AFCON as a tournament!

    • MuYiwa 2 years ago

On the Ajayi issue, I feel same way too. I believe he was chosen ahead of Akpos cos of his multiple role as a DM and his experience with the team, Ndah shd have been left out altogether for Akpo. Tho ppl like Jimmyball wld say that cos he didnt turn out for Nigeria earlier he shd be punished with this AFCON. Dressers is another player that shd have been included in this team. Anyway, I wish the team well in Cameroon

  • Dennis 2 years ago

All I care about is that ‘let us fail with our own’ must bring the cup home. No excuse whatsoever. Afterall, we have the best squad in Africa according to omo9ja

  • Ololo 2 years ago

Oshimen became fire after rohn included in his in the last Afcon. He played just the last game the third place game against Tunisia and we all saw he was a young player who needed Afcon exposure to become better..

Every player will not play all the games but some will get some exposure that will turn their careers around..

As for olayinka I will have preferred a moffi of L’Orient or a deseer but the difference between these players might not be too wide

    • JimmyBall 2 years ago

@Ololo… If you know the processes involved in player callup you will underatand it is not a decision that a single individual takes in isolation.

I watched Terem all through last season and have watched Olayinka for about 3years now… If you tell me Terem should take the place of Onyekuru, I won’t argue even though I know it should have been Nwakaeme. Now Dennis isn’t going anymore, you have to consider a wideman first in his place… a wideman who can run the left Channel tirelessly and that’s why Olayinka comes in. We do not have players up to five(5) in the current team that can hold the torch in our forward line where Olayinka is… Olayinka is an effective, energetic and proficient forward… he can strike through the middle and wing. The only inclusion unmwritted so far is Onyekuru and he won’t start games so I am not bothered.

  • @JimmyBall, Are and Chuks Haifa. I know what I was saying when I mentioned that statement. Just to show you Ade of your foolish comment. I also mentioned the likes of Lewis Hamilton, David Beckham and others. I even gave you examples of how Sir Alex Ferguson was visiting the Beckham’s house just to make sure his best players was in the right frame of mind. But your tribalistic Yoruba mind picked up the phrase “Yoruba”, to launch an attack. Very myopic indeed.

At JimmyBall, if you do not know something. It’s better to keep quiet. There is a difference between getting married and dating. Usain Bolt up till now is not married to his long girlfriend, but has 2 children by her.

You mentioned Celestine, Drogba and the others. Let me call you a simple honest truth, any successful footballer is a magnet to both the good and bad women of our society. Both home and abroad. Which is why most of them marry their long time girlfriend’s thay knew them before they became a success.

However, with the likes of David Beckham, Celestine Babayaro,Onyekuru, Ahmed Musa shows and others shows exactly the same thing I am saying. Dating or marrying a wrong person can ruin your football career.

Celestine Babayaro and Kanu Nwankwo were party boys in London. This was the same time Kanu lost his form at Arsenal. Thierry Henry was part of that click at first, till he decided to leave them and concentrate on his career. That was one of the major reasons Thierry Henry’s performance soared at Arsenal.

Onyekuru was also a party boy and divorced his oyinbo wife for a Nigerian. Has his form improve??? He is still stuttering from one club to another.

Drogba recently divorced his wife. But Drogba was lucky with the likes of Mourinho helping him out and also asking of his personal affairs at home. That is how Mourinho got the best of Drogba. The same with Michael Essien and others who played for Mourinho at Chelsea FC.

What am I saying here in general, Sport personnel management goes beyond the field, the track or any racing course.

Let me even give you another recent example outside of football. Serena Williams and Drake the rap star. Due to the issues they had when they were Dating, Serena Williams lost her form on the lawn tennis court. She couldn’t even concentrate to win a single match.

The couple broke up, Serena got married to someone with less hassle. She even gave birth to a child and her career resumed.

Again if you haven’t noticed this trend, please do not comment.

  • MuYiwa 2 years ago

I think we should forgive Dennis for boycotting the AFCON. The poor dude is trying to save his club career. We all know what he went through last year. I only hope that he handled it in a diplomatic manner with the coach and NFF, lest he puts himself in international football wilderness. Go Eagles, Go.

I am always excited to read this Super Eagles’s fans column where divergent opinions are expressed unfettered. I must continue to appreciate all of you that take time to air your views through this medium. It goes a long way to demonstrate how much you guys love football and our darling Super Eagles.
I want to believe that the essence of our arguments each time we ventilate our opinions is to ensure that our country stands to be counted among the best in the world of football.
Having said that, I feel it is imperative to exercise caution in our use of words particularly such words that demeaning, derogatory, denigrating, too offensive and corrosive. Let us be in mind that comments go viral even beyond our imagination. We must be very careful in our use of words and language.
Again, let us always try to be optimistic rather than being pessimistic and negative almost all the time especially in the context of the forthcoming Nation’s Cup.
We should always continue to encourage and support our players and the technical crew in spite of all odds. Please, let us stop dampening their morale. It’s not the best way to make progress.
In every situation, there is a reason for that.
Above all, let’s pray that our Super Eagles will have a successful outing in Cameroon. I am confident that tournament will end in our favor and to the glory of God Insha Allah. Thanks.
