Onyekuru Eyes Turkish Double After Cup Win

Super Eagles forward Henry Onyekuru is looking forward to Sunday’s top of the table Turkish Super Lih clash with Istanbul Basaksehir after clinching the Turkish Cup With Galatasaray on Wednesday, reports Completesports.com

Onyekuru starred for Galatasaray as they dethroned holders Akhisarspor winning 3-1 in the Turkish Cup final to become the most successful team in the history of the competition with 18 titles.

The Everton loanee could clinch his second major trophy on Sunday when Galatasaray
welcome closest rivals Istanbul Basaksehir in the penultimate league game of the season.

Both teams are tied on 66 points apiece with Galatasaray having a superior goal difference of +8 and a win for Onyekuru’s side will seal the championship for them on head to head as the reverse fixture played on the 18th of December 2018 ended in a 1-1 draw.

“Cup Final Champions. All praises to God. The marathon continues – the big one on Sunday,” Onyekuru tweeted in reference to the crucial league game against Basaksehir.

Onyekuru has netted 13 goals in the Turkish Super Lig and two goals in the cup this season.

He has been included in Nigeria’s provisional squad for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations billed scheduled to start in Egypt next month.
