Nigeria forward Henry Onyekuru is delighted to hit the back of the net in Galatasaray’s 2-0 Istanbul derby win against Besiktas and hopes the club will maintain top spot in the Turkish Super Lig till the end of the campaign, reports Completesports.com.
Onyekuru opened scoring for the defending league champions a minute before half time while Brazilian midfielder Fernando added the second in the 54th minute.
Fatih Terim’s men headed into Sunday’s big game with a poor record of a win in their past 15 attempts in Istanbul derby.
With title rivals Istanbul Basaksehir having dropped points against Sivasspor in Friday’s encounter, the win places the title chances in Galatasaray’s hands.

”A beautiful victory at home to win the derby. Thank you for the insane home support to help us through this. I am grateful to be able to contribute with a goal ⚽!!! We are now top of the league and that’s where we plan to stay!! ❤💛 🦁 #ToGodBeTheGlory ,” reads a tweet on his Twitter handle.
