Osimhen Strives To Smash Martins’ Serie A Records In Lazio Vs Napoli

Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen, will aim to equal or surpass two of Obafemi Martins’ records in Serie A in Napoli’s crunch clash with Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico on Saturday.

Osimhen made his 55th Serie A appearance in the colours of Napoli which drew 1-1 with Lecce at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium on Wednesday night but the striker failed to hit the net.

Osimhen since joining Napoli in 2020 has played 55 Serie A games with 26 goals and nine assists in his record, netting ten times and making five assists in 24 league matches in 2020/21.

During the 2021/22 Italian top-flight campaign, he scored 14 goals and made three assists in 27 matches while this term, he has netted twice and made an assist in four league encounters.

After scoring 26 Serie A goals overall for Napoli, Osimhen is only two shy of Martins with 28 goals in 88 league appearances and five short of Simy Nwankwo who has 31 goals in 101 matches.

Osimhen who also recorded an assist in Napoli’s first top-flight game of the new season is one away from Martins’ Serie A record as the former Inter Milan star had ten assists in the league.

The 23-year-old was on song on Sunday, August 31, 2022, as he netted his 30th goal across all competitions in their 4-0 destruction of newly-promoted minnows, Monza in a Serie A fixture.

Osimhen then made it two goals in two matches, having also scored in their opener on August 15 in a 5-2 away win over Hellas Verona. He has failed to score in his last two league games, though.

Will he score the goals without the passes? Napoli that doesn’t have a recognised striker and also Isaac Success is going through same rough time at Udinese where Gerard D never passes to him even when clear but rather shoots erratically from a tight angle. Isaac in return always plays with the team and never selfish. This same strikers will come to SE and not want to play with their team mates but shoot erratically maybe Karma dey catch them but it’s high time these guys demand supply from their partners and also another advice to Osimhen is he should be calm when on goal and go with instinct instead of shooting erratically. Shooting erratically without wisdom and tenacity is what’s affecting majority of our national team including our girls. We can learn to know when to shoot instead of trying to school from 100metres because one girl scored from a distance we all saw how they all started shooting from a distance and Netherlands took them to the cleaners with two tidy finish from fewer chance.  Good luck to Osimhen you can also try to be a little spiritual and cool headed by embracing humility because God uplifts the humble and makes everything fall in place for you but humbles the proud. Blessings!!!
