Arsenal outcast Mesut Ozil is 90 per cent close to joining Fenerbahce in the January transfer window according to one of the Turkish side’s chiefs.
Ozil has long been linked with the Arsenal exit door having fallen out of favour under Mike Arteta.
He has been frozen out at the Emirates after being omitted from the Premier League and Europa League squads.
But Fenerbahce congress member Murat Zorlu is “90 per cent sure” Ozil will make a move to Turkey in the January transfer window.
The World Cup winner’s contract expires in the summer and Arsenal are desperate to get him off the wage bill.
He signed a mammoth deal worth £350,000-a-week in Arsene Wenger’s final season which has made it hard for the north Londoners to find a buyer.
But his nightmare spell at the Emirates could soon be over if reports in Turkey are to be beleived.
Zorlu told Sport Digitale : “A source, who’s very well connected to the club has told me that Mesut Ozil is likely to become a Fenerbahce player during the next transfer window.
“I would say 90% he will join us in one month.”
Ozil has regularly been linked with a move to one of Turkey’s top clubs.
