Nigeria’s Flying Eagles will be without the pair of Valentine Ozornwafor and Jamil Muhammad for their crucial Group D clash against Ukraine at the ongoing 2019 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Poland later today (Thursday) reports Completesports.com.
Both players featured in the Flying Eagles’ opening two games against Qatar and USA.
According to a tweet from the official handle of the Nigerian Football Federation, Valentine Ozornwafor will miss the game against Ukraine at the Bielsko-Biala Stadium, Bielsko Biala due to a groin injury while Muhammad has been ruled out of the tournament after sustaining an injury in the game against the United States.
“Flying Eagles camp update: A groin injury will keep Flying Eagles defender Valentine Ozornwafor out of the Group D clash against Ukraine. #SoarFlyingEagles #Team9jaStrong #U20WC,” the tweet reads.
Nigeria are currently second in Group D with three points from two games. They must now earn a result against group leaders Ukraine on six points – who pipped Qatar 1-0 on matchday 2 – on Thursday to advance to the Round of 16.
USA are third with three points but with an inferior goal difference with Qatar occupying the fourth spot.
