The 24-year-old is described as a ‘ball-playing defender’ with strong leadership skills who has already helped Santos to Campeonato Paulista championship success three years ago.
His form further improved under former Chile and Sevilla coach Jorge Sampaoli at the Brazilian outfit during the course of the past season which has resulted in a number of potential suitors emerging. Italian side Torino and French outfit Lyon have been linked but Palace could now join the chase and they would have no problem in meeting Santos’ £7m valuation of the player.
