Lamine Yamal’s uncle, Abdul, has entered the ongoing debate regarding the recent award outcome, insisting that his nephew was unjustly overlooked in favour of Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane.
Speaking in an interview with Spanish radio show El Larguero, Abdul expressed disappointment over the voting, arguing that Yamal’s flair and overall impact make him the superior footballer despite Kane’s goalscoring pedigree.

“I think it’s a mistake and very sad. My nephew is the best player in the world, everyone knows it,” Abdul stated. “If you like football, you go to see Lamine, not Harry Kane. Kane is a great goal scorer, but Lamine shines on the pitch.”
Abdul further suggested that age played a factor in the decision, claiming the voters prioritized an older player nearing the end of his career while overlooking the teenager’s dominance.

“As Lamine is young, he has time, and that’s why they’re not giving him this opportunity. Kane, with only three days of football left, has been given the opportunity,” he added.
“I’m sure Lamine will end up winning five. In a few days, Lamine’s sadness will be over.”
