Gordie Herbert’s squad breezed past Japan with quarter scores of 28-21, 24-23, 22-17, and 23-16, securing their first win in the 2024 Paris Olympics men’s basketball tournament.

Germany’s Franz Wagner led the show, finishing the game with 22 points (9/17 FG, 2/8 3PT, 2/2 FT), 6 rebounds, 1 assist, and a 21 EFF.
Daniel Theis added 18 points (7/7 FG, 2/2 3PT, 2/2 FT), 7 rebounds, and a 25 EFF.
Japan’s Rui Hachimura and Yuta Watanabe also demonstrated their prowess. Hachimura finished with 20 points (4/19 FG, 2/9 3PT, 10/12 FT), 10 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 turnovers, and a 14 EFF, while Watanabe contributed 16 points (6/13 FG, 4/9 3PT), 2 rebounds, 1 assist, and a 14 EFF.
