The 27-year-old last featured in the 3-0 victory at Newcastle United on December 1 and he has been on the sidelines ever since as he continues to be plagued by a troublesome ankle problem. It was thought the midfielder would not return to action until pre-season for the 2019/20 campaign although Pellegrini has provided a glimmer of hope to the supporters.
The former Manchester City boss has suggested Wilshere could be back in the match-day squad before the season concludes. “Jack Wilshere has worked without problem and Carlos Sanchez has trained with the squad,” Pellegrini said at a press conference. “I hope that Jack Wilshere will play some games before the end of the season too.”
