Perez Storms Into Share Of Alfred Dunhill Lead

Victor Perez shot a brilliant eight-under-par 64 on Saturday to move into the joint-lead at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. Playing his third round at Kingsbarns, world number 184 Perez made nine birdies and one bogey to move onto -20 for the tournament, joining Englishman Matthew Southgate at the top of the leaderboard.

The Frenchman, who missed back-to-back cuts heading into the Scottish event, is aiming for his maiden European Tour win, having previously triumphed twice on the Challenge Tour in 2017 and 2018. England’s Paul Waring is the closest challenger to the leading pair after he went around Carnoustie in a seven-under-par 65, lifting him into third on -18, two shots off the pace.

American Tony Finau and Swede Joakim Lagergren, both of whom played St Andrews in round three, are in a share of fourth on -17 after they carded rounds of 66 and 68 respectively. Former world number one Luke Donald, fellow Englishman Jordan Smith and Italian Andrea Pavan are a further shot back on -16, four strokes off the lead, while two-time champion Tyrrell Hatton heads a group of five players on -15.
