Plumptre: I’m Proud Of My Nigerian Heritage

Leicester City defender Ashleigh Plumptre says she is proud of her Nigerian heritage, reports Completesports.com.

Plumptre was cleared by FIFA to represent Nigeria in January and made her debut for the Super Falcons against Cote d’l voire last week Friday.

The 23-year-old says she “grew up British” but added that she got a “great sense of pride” when she first travelled to Nigeria to meet up with her new international teammates.

“It’s always been an assumption that I’m white,” Plumptre told BBC East Midlands Today.

“I get a lot of messages and people question my heritage a lot, but I can’t necessarily blame them. It comes down to education.

“What people see is what they think. People don’t want to have the conversation or want to consider anything deeper than what they see.

“It’s putting a marker down. It’s not just what you predict a Nigerian to be. For me, I know the importance of representing something bigger than me.

“I’m representing the mixed-race community and especially for the younger ones coming through. You don’t have to look a certain way or be told you are a certain way, you can feel it and you can be it.”

This young lady is very smart and courageous, myonly prayer for her is for Nigeria not to disappoint her with thier corrupt attitude and make her regret,I don’t know how dessers will be feeling now ,he deserves another look in, probably after the WCQ.

Welcome home Plumptre. You did well and Nigerians are proud of you.

Yes, Dessers will be thinking that NFF has betrayed him. He loves to play for Nigeria like Plumptre is doing now but we all know what is going on in the NFF.

They are just putting their people there forgetting that what goes around comes around. When they asked coach Eguavoen about Dessers, he says “I didn’t know much about Dessers” but coach Waldrum knew a lot about
    “Plumptre” before he invited her?

Who is fooling who?. Corruption. This magomago won’t take you any where. Am not Oga Rohr followers that kept deceiving the gaffer but in the end, the coach got sacked.

I don’t want the same thing to happen to you our own that is why I am warming you all now. We need Dessers not Ighalo, Akpeyi and so on. Our own should please invite our best players to represent Nigeria against Ghana.

We are all Nigerians and if you are good then you should be giving a chance to play for Nigeria period. God bless Nigeria!!!

  • I’m also proud of you.

Very deep for shallow minds to truly grasp. I am so so proud of this lady Ashleigh Plumptre. Quite fascinating, most nollyhood actresses are rather now choosing to bleach off their dark skin pigmentation to be somebody else. Ummmh.. Maybe n just maybe they feel Europeans/Chinese. Lolzzz.
