Mauricio Pochettino is believed to be considering the option of playing Eric Dier at the heart of the Tottenham defence next season. Spurs have been frugal with their business after not signing any players during the last two transfer windows although fresh faces are expected through the door this summer.
Should Toby Alderweireld move on to pastures new before next season, Pochettino is thought to see Dier as the man who could fill the void at centre-back for the new campaign. The England international has filled in at the back before and Dier could find himself with much more game-time if Pochettino can convince the 25-year-old to take up a more unfamiliar role than his staple position as a defensive midfielder.
