Paul Pogba is still reportedly keen to join Zinedine Zidane at Real Madrid, despite the fact the Red Devils want to offer a new deal. The Frenchman was constantly in the back pages during the summer with his future up in the air.
He has flattered to deceive since returning to United back in 2016 and has been linked with a move to Madrid as well as a return to Juventus.
However, no deal materialised and he has remained at United this season.
The 26-year-old has featured four times for United and is still regarded as a first-choice player in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team, as he has partnered Scott McTominay in the middle of the park this term.
Sources have suggested they are keen to get contract talks underway, with the World Cup winner entering the final two years of his current deal. The club have the option to extend it by a further year but want him to commit long-term in order to fend off interest from Madrid.
However, Pogba is still understood to be interested in linking up with his compatriot at the Bernabeu, but is prepared to hear out United when they talk to him about signing a new deal.
Since rejoining the club, Pogba has scored 31 goals in 139 games, with 16 of those coming last season in his best campaign at Old Trafford.
