Akor is the best.
Iwobi is the worst!
Last man!
Short 1 – Choose 1
E be like sey dem take Iwobi swear for una!
Mad pipo lmaoo!
Pedro Neto strikes. 1 nil to Portugal.
Naija boys, make unu try ooo. We no wan see basket ball scoreline at the end of the game.
Pls Wat ees Iwobi role in dis gane naa? ehn? somebodi told me na
hes only ting is to ran arand pretending like he playing sontin buh every attack coming fron hes side, he wii nefa tackle or contributed anyting, In fact |I’m surprise dat even Chelles ees playing did fraud
ees like he haf a godfada in Nigeria forcing efry manager to played hin, becos there can be no other reason, unless yuh are a blind man, but eef yuh had eyes, yuh can saw immediate fat Iqwobi is completely usless in de SE. Kai
SE wii lost dis gane an eet ees onli becos of that useless short1 Iwobi! shior!!
I guess Bekene is injured because this right back lacks basic defending. Besides, Bruno, Moses, and Iwobi have underperformed so far..
Nwabali is still the numero uno..
Bros abeg pin down!
Whish Bruno or Moses are yuh talkings about?
Dose guys included efry oda players haf be fery good – de pnly werey in dis team ees Iwobi and eef Chelles sent hin out agen in de second haf den, dere must be something behind dis madness, somebodi mus be pulling some string behind de seen, becos as dey said in Yoruba language – Aarun oju ni kin sharun imu – Eef yuh cant saw dat Iwobi is dis team biggest problem an de reason they har not feared arand de wold rite now ees becos they has Iwobi in de team, he ees jus like a BIG HOLE in de midfield lmaoo!
Chaii Nigeria!! Whu do wunu like dis??
Gooooaaaaaaaall!!!!
Akor my man. Great work from Dele Bashiru.
Even if we eventually lose, this Akor goal sweet me wella.
Make dem sha try. As long as we no collect too much. Who knows, we might even shock dem.
41 yr old CR7 no wan hear word. Baba wan score.
Onyemaechi and Akpan doesn’t have the pace to match the Portuguese full backs Semedo and Dalot. Akpan is not good enough! Iwobi shows his lack of any defensive skills, in this type of match against a stronger opponent Iwobi is not very useful.
Portugal has been all about hugging the ball and trying to beat the offside trap.
Wonder why we cannot play with our best 11 against a very strong opponent. This game is missing Osimhen, Lookman, Osayi, Aina.
If we didnt had the problem of Iwobi- mr short1 slowing de Se down in dis gane ehn, I wuld of told yuh right now dat we har de better team, buh Iwobi, is seriously dragging dis teams down, I really dont arrastand why dey kept playing dis guy, hes jazz must be fery strong gaani! lmaoo
Ees like yuh har all blind men, becos yuh wii soon see another crase pesin na coming here to abuse me and defend dat complete basket – I feels sorry for al of yuh whu cant saw dat iwobi is draging dis team down. I VERY FEEL
Nonsenses and Robbishes lmaoo
I am so impressed with Akpan! He may not be fantastic, but he is a player for the future. I am amazed that an U23 team player is getting this confidence. He will get a good contract after this game.
For me Adam Akors ees Nigeria best strikers rite now!
He ess ahead of Osimhen for sure!
He just didnt had de superstars status like Osimhen
Akor na baller na. He was part of Naija’s terrible trio strike force at the last Afcon. E get why. Akor, Osimhen and Lookman are the nightmare of defences.
I love the way we are pressing them. Every time they have the ball, a white wave of Naija players envelopes them. They are finding it difficult to create.
Good one, boys.
Mehn Akor Adams ees just de best joor o!
See how he went inside de Portrugrese huddle like an undacova agent lmaoo!
But how Iwobi ees stii on dis pitch ees beyond human conprehension joor lool!
Tanks God dat at less Chelles get dat one rite, to left Adams Akors on de pitch oo, becos he haf to be left o de pitch, he ees too good! In fact (not Onyeka) he shuld be benching Osimhen as we first shoice strikers
Dis Chelle mus be a mad man, how can he make al dis subs buh stii leave Owibo on de pithch??? Nna ehn, dis wan pass fulani herdmens kidnapas sef lmaoo
Pure madness!
We are down 2-1 to a team that can win the world cup, and playing without Lookman, Osimhen, Azeez, Aina.
I can definitely take positives from this performance.
If am de manager of Nigeria SE, dere ees 2 player whu wii nefa efa see de green white an green again let alone play for Nigeria and I leaf de first wan to yuh to guest eet must be fery easy to guest whu de first wan ees, hes name ees Alex Iwoba, an de oda wan ees dat useless Chukweze two fery useless player!
I really don arrastan y Chelles left Iwobo on de pisch for de hole gameoo
Can efen hin not see dat dis guys Awobi ees a very big fool?? Hmm na wa oo
Hope the mark the end of sanusi in this SE team.
Chukwueze, great talent, but has sadly fallen down the pecking order simply cos he doesn’t know when to release the ball to his teammate. He’d rather try to dribble and score a spectacular goal from a difficult position than feed a free teammate. If he were in the position of Bashiru in the move that led to our goal, he would have tried to shoot rather than pass to Akor for that goal.
The changes Chelle made in the 2nd half brought life to the team and allowed Iwobi back in his favorite positioning and to play more purposefully.
But what is it with all the excessive short passes and back passes when it was absolutely unnecessary?
Good display from our super eagles
Good days ahead
The Bewene boy is really good
The gulf in class is obvious! There’s an undeniable difference in quality, besides,Nigeria is not a team to withstand pressure for over ten minutes without conceding! Our mental strength is not up there.I saw the second goal seconds before we conceded.
There individual ability and confidence is world class, that’s why one Portuguese player can confidently navigate past a host of Nigerian players with the ball still on his feet, but 2 Nigerian players cannot go past 1 Portuguese player. We have a lot of learning to do,our players also have to be ambitious. We have to work hard on our game to attract big teams, the difference between Portugal and Nigeria is the quality of clubs they play against ours.Manchester city playing against Wolves will never be the same as Manchester city against PSG.We have to aspire to get to elite level in club football.
For example, the goal opportunity Chukwueze wasted was due to poor vision. An elite player makes good and quick decision, there football vision is top class. They see without looking,a simple pass to the left by Chukwueze could have given us a draw but for poor vision and poor decision making the opportunity was given away sadly!
Greenturf, we lack the materials to be “ambitious”.
Las Las, one more afcon for this team and hopefully we have real star players in every area of this team afterwards. We can’t keep hoping this squad should “mature” for 2030 world cup.
Our players should aspire to bigger leagues, I beg.
Like the afrosports commentator said, “quality get grade”.
Forget 5th vs 26th in ranking. No be Morocco don climb to 7th? From the same Africa?
Wait. Is it these grade of eagles some nitwits are clamouring for home based players to be a staple?
Our players should dream big. One more nations cup.
I don’t even know where to start. The team has definitely improved, no doubt about that. But make we no deceive ourselves; we’re still not at the level of the very best teams in the world.
The biggest difference? Quality. Simple.
Portugal can call on players who have won major trophies, competed at the highest level for years, and know exactly what it takes to handle pressure. That kind of experience gives you confidence on the ball. You could see it in the way they moved, retained possession and made decisions.
A good number of our own players, meanwhile, are either in mid-table clubs in the top European leagues or playing in less competitive leagues across Europe. It shows sometimes. You fit no hide am.
That said, there were plenty of positives. I was genuinely impressed with Bassey, Bewene, Akor, Dele, Tochukwu and Semi. They turned up, competed, and gave a good account of themselves.
Iwobi didn’t have his best game. He looked rusty and was off the pace in moments. But let’s not mistake that for a lack of quality. The class is still there. One poor outing doesn’t suddenly erase what he brings to this team.
Credit also has to go to the coach. He’s creating opportunities for new faces to come in and stake their claim, and that’s exactly how a national team should evolve. With time, I honestly think players like Zaidu and Onyemaechi will be phased out if they don’t improve. They were poor yesterday and looked well below the level required.
As for Okoye, he remains a puzzle. One moment, he looks composed and dependable; the next, he looks shaky and capable of gifting the opposition a chance out of nowhere. He also doesn’t seem to keep clean sheets for us as consistently as Nwabali, who has built a reputation for doing exactly that. To be fair, though, Okoye still put in a decent shift overall.
Personally, I would have loved to see Okonkwo get some minutes in the second half.
Overall, there are reasons to be encouraged. The team is improving, fresh competition is emerging, and some players are beginning to establish themselves. But if we’re being honest, we still have a long way to go before we can genuinely stand toe-to-toe with the elite. No be abuse; na reality. The gap is closing, but the work is far from finished.
