Premier League: Ajayi Scores With A Header As West Brom Beat Wolves In Black Country Derby

Semi Ajayi scored with a fine header as West Bromich Albion recorded their first win under manager Sam Allardyce following 3-2 victory against Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Molineux on Saturday afternoon, reports Completesports.com

Matheus Pereira gave West Brom the lead on eight minutes coolly slotting home from the spot after Willy Boly fouled Callum Robinson inside the box.

The host equalised in the 38th minute through Fabio Silva who opened his body before slidding the ball past David Button.

Wolves took the lead for the first time in the game two minutes before the break, with Boly prodding the ball into the net after West Brom failed to clear from a corner.

The visitors remarkably turned things around after the break with Ajayi looping home an header into the net on 52 minutes.

It was the centre-back’s second goal of the season for the Baggies.

Four minutes later, Pereira smashed in his second penalty of the game to make it 3-2 after Robinson was fouled by Conor Coady.

West Brom stay in 19th position, with 11 points, three adrift of safety. Wolves, who are now without a win in their last five league games stay in 14th position.

He has scored 3 epl goals not two. He got the equalizers against City and Liverpool and now this

    • ChrisB 3 years ago

His goal against city was a deflection off Ruben Dias and rightly awarded as an own goal by the Premier league’s dubious goals Panel, Hence Semi did not score against city for the records.

    Hmmm…
✓ Highest Scoring Nigerian Defender in Europe’s Top 5 league
✓ Highest number of games for a Super Eagle Defender in Europe Top 5 League
✓ Has now equalled Iwobi (An attacking Midfielder) goal tally in the same Premier League

Hmmmm…we keep observing. Wait until he comes to Super Eagles and our experts we start saying he is this and that yet there Star Defender is being played as a Right back in Championship. Yeye

    • @Chairmanfemi…..

Anyway a big thumbs up to Ajayi. He seems to be the only tree in that lonely forest Westbrom. Brothers, Aderabioyo is everyday growing to such top class defender. His game oozes the confidence of a veteran.

Semi Ajayi is far better than William Troost-Ekong.

  • AJAYI IS A REAL GOAL THREAT IN HIS OPPONENTS BOX, BUT HE IS A GOAL RISK IN HIS 18 YARD BOX. LOL, HAHAHA!
HE MAY NOT BE ONE OF THE BEST DEFENDERS IN THE PREMIERSHIP, BUT HIS ABILITY TO SCORE GOALS REGULARLY AS A CENTRE DEFENDER SHOULD SET HIM APART. HOPE THEY CAN BUILD ON THIS WIN AND PULL THEMSELVES OUT OF THE RELEGATION ZONE.BOTH THEY AND FULHAM.

Sportfan you are just being too sentimental with what you just said concerning west brom and fulham avoiding relegation this season, its obvious, why you made such statement is because of the number of nigerians players we have in both club, but in the world of football it does not literally turn up the way we expect. But at the end of it all only the best team survives relegation.
