Premier League: Aribo Benched In Southampton’s Home Loss To Manchester United

Joe Aribo was benched as Southampton fell to a disappointing 3-0 home defeat to Manchester United at the St. Mary’s Stadium on Saturday.

Southampton have now lost their last 4 games in the Premier League, their last longer losing streak was from 27th April 2023 to 21st May 2023, a run of 5 games.

Aribo featured in Southampton’s previous three Premier League outings but was left on the bench for 90 minutes against the Red Devils.

Southampton missed the chance to take the lead on 34 minutes after Cameron Archer’s penalty was saved by Andre Onana.

The miss sparked a momentum shift in the game with Matthijs de Ligt handing United the lead one minute later.

Marcus Rashford scored his first goal since March to double the visitors lead four minutes before the break.

Substitute Alejandro Garnacho added the third 17 minutes from regulation time.
