Premier League: Lookman On Target, Aina In Action As Man United Beat Fulham, Reclaim Top Spot

Ademola Lookman was on target but it proved futile as Manchester United reclaimed first place in the Premier League table by coming from behind to beat Fulham 2-1 at Craven Cottage on Wednesday night.

Also in action for Fulham against United were Ola Aina and Tosin Adarabioyo

Lookman’s goal means he has now provided three goals and three assists in the Premier League this season, with his six total goal involvements the most of any Fulham player in the competition this campaign.

Earlier in the day, United had been overtaken by their rivals Manchester City, who beat Aston Villa 2-0 to go top.

But Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side responded with a win of their own to return to the summit of the table on 40 points two ahead of City – even though City still have a game in hand over them.

United fell behind in the 5th minute, when Lookman gave Fulham a shock lead.

The forward latched onto a through ball from Andre Zambo Anguissa beating the offside trap before picking his finish.

Despite Fulham’s stubbornness, United  found an equaliser on 21 minutes thanks to Edinson Cavani who pounced on a loose ball to make it 1-1.

Fulham almost went again again as the second half began as Lookman forced a save from De Gea at the end of a decent move.

United got themselves in front for the first time in the 65th minute through Paul Pogba cut in from the right-hand side, curling the ball in powerfully with his left foot.

Fulham were still in the game, though, and Ruben Loftus-Cheek tested De Gea from close range. The United goalkeeper kept his shot out with his legs.

Deep into stoppage time, a header from Aleksandar Mitrovic deflected off Eric Bailly and almost trickled into the net for an equaliser, but it went narrowly wide.

Ultimately, United withstood the pressure from their opponents in the closing stages and kept hold of all three points.

Hopefully Lookman will replace and surpass Musa in the super eagles…

I will always start Lookman ahead of any of our available wingers in the super eagles presently as he seems to having almost everything to be a reliable winger…

Another Beast knocking the super eagles door is Osayi Samuel. He is going to be a big deal with Fernabahce..

You are right bro. Dude have good composure, technical ability to take out opponents and clinical in front of goal than any of our present wingers. I think he is likely to retire Ahmed Musa and Moses Simon. However, I think we have found a good replacement of Mikel Obi, he’s Fatal Gbadamosi playing for shooting stars of Ibadan. Watch out for him!
