Price Welcomes Widening Gap

Warrington Wolves head coach Steve Price was delighted to see his side open up a six-point gap and strengthen their grip on second place in Super League. A 34-4 home victory over Catalans Dragons saw the Wire score five tries to one and in the process increase their advantage over the French outfit, who occupy third place in the table.

And Australian Price was pleased with the efforts of his players, who have now won their last three games in all competitions. He told the Warrington Guardian: “I was really pleased with the result, it was critical that we won. It was an important win because a top-two finish is what we’re striving for.

“But there’s a lot of rugby to be played yet, so we will keep grounded and working hard and keep chipping away. “Catalans are a team who try and jump you early and I thought we combated that really well and to go in at 12-4 at half time I was really pleased with the process.

“We then went on to score some excellent tries in the second half.” Next up for Warrington is a trip to Craven Park next Saturday to take on Hull KR, who recently named Tony Smith as their new head coach following the sacking of Tim Sheens.
