PSG A Step Up, Says Icardi After Inter Exit

Mauro Icardi says swapping Inter Milan for Paris Saint-Germain is a big step in his career after joining the French champions on loan. Inter have been attempting to offload the striker all summer and managed to do so just before the closure of the transfer window on Monday as PSG snapped him up on a season-long loan deal.

Despite being frozen out by Antonio Conte, Icardi penned a new one-year contract extension with the Nerazzuri to take him to 2022, before he joined the Parisians. Icardi is excited by the move and is hoping to achieve great success in the French capital.

“It’s a major step in my career, and a great opportunity to join a top club like Paris Saint-Germain. I hope to live great things here,” he said. “Being able to play alongside these very talented players is amazing. The decision was easy to make, I’ve come to Paris because I wanted to play with them.

“I know the Argentines obviously, and I know [Edinson] Cavani. And I have met Neymar Jr. I am proud to become their team-mate. “I am a striker, I like to score goals. It’s going to be great to play up front with the amazing attacking players that are in this squad.”
