Puel To Be Given Time

Leicester are believed to have told Claude Puel that his job is safe until the end of the season.

The Frenchman appears to split opinion with the Foxes faithful due to his quiet demeanour and results against lesser sides have seen some sections of the support call for a change.

While Puel has overseen wins against the likes of Chelsea, Manchester City and Everton in recent months, his side have also lost to the likes of Southampton and Cardiff, while his team selection was criticised after going out of the FA Cup to League Two Newport County.

Saturday’s last gasp 4-3 reverse at Wolves stoked further ire from the fans and came on the back of a week of rumours tipping Celtic coach Brendan Rodgers to replace him.

Newcastle’s Rafael Benitez, former Huddersfield chief David Wagner and Leonardo Jardim have also been mentioned as viable options should Puel be sacked but the board seem content with his work.

The 57-year-old’s contract runs until the summer of 2020 and the hierarchy are believed to have reassured him that he will be given at least until the summer to try and get the fans back on side.
