Pulisic Thrilled To Be Working Under Lampard

Chelsea midfielder Christian Pulisic admits it is surreal to work under Frank Lampard, saying he watched him growing up. Lampard was appointed Blues boss a few weeks ago following a long, protracted move from Derby County.

He replaces Maurizio Sarri and will be tasked with bringing through the younger players with the club currently under a transfer ban. Pulisic is part of the travelling squad that has headed to Japan and is now gearing up for his maiden appearance in a Blues shirt, his move from Borussia Dortmund having gone through in January before he re-joined the Germans on loan for the remainder of the 2018/19 season.

The 20-year-old only finished up at the CONCACAF Gold Cup with the USA just nine days ago, but says he is eager to get going at his new club and impress Lampard, someone he admires greatly. Pulisic told GAFFER Magazine: ‘When I think of this club, there’s a lot of great players that come to mind.

I grew up watching Frank Lampard and all of those guys at the top of their game in the Premier League and in the Champions League. “To me, Chelsea were always one of the biggest teams and now to be playing here, it’s really come full circle from that moment. It feels amazing.”
