Former Super Eagles head coach Sunday Oliseh has heaped plaudits on the Atlas Lions of Morocco following their win against Portugal on Saturday.
The Atlas Lions made history as the first African team to secure a place in the semi-final of the World Cup after a thrilling 1-0 win against Portugal at the Al Thumama Stadium, Doha.
Sevilla forward, Youssef En-Nesyri scored the winning goal in the 42nd minute.
Portugal fought hard to level scores after the break but Morocco produced a resolute defensive performance to win the contest.
“After 48 years of trying Morocco has made Africa into world superpower status in football. Ecstatic & privileged to be here at Al Thumama Stadium to witness Morocco do it. Wifey jokingly predicted this when she came to Qatar! Guess our wives are always right after all,” Oliseh wrote on his Twitter handle.
The North Africans will face France in the World Cup semi-finals on Wednesday at the Al Bayt Stadium.

Argentina has to be in the finals for your prediction to be right. The trophy belongs to my humble Lionel Messi. Morocco has done their best but I need Messi to retire with a WC trophy due to his great personality and as the Greatest Footballer To Ever Exist.
Having watched the Argentina team in and out I don’t see the quality needed to oust Croatia in this tournament.Maybe that can happen after this era. Point of correction Messi is not the beat of all time in any way. I don’t know the yardstick with which u made such hollow assertion..How can someone who is about to retired without ever winning the world cup be the best of all time.? that’s a big insult to king Pele who won it at age 17yrs. I don’t think anyone ever made football easy and consistently made a silly of oppositions like Messi. Only the greatest of all time can make it look easy despite is tiny frame. Maradona was the closest to making it look easy but he was into drugs so I can’t call him a great. De Lima was great, pele was great but Messi is just a God Gift. I think Super can’t win next African Cup of Nation in Cote De’Ivore cause of developing of African teams participate in Qatar World Cup, look at Morocco can SE defeat them with this bad coach Peseiro and his bad tactics? but if SE NFF and coaching crew made many changes, they could win the next Afcon. Cup; these changes are putting drastic and rigorous and agressive defensive midfield and back lines with strong and combative players who have combative soul, play depth football with excellent playmakers like Eberechi , Michael Oliseh, the coach must make unity and family team with one man soul, NFF must abrogate their contract with Peseiro then they must hire high quality coach who can do this task just like Brazilian Dunga, France Raymond Domenech or Jaques Santini, Duch Frank Deboer or Brazilian Tite these quality coaches can do this task after that SE will be to a new era.
