Quadri Regrets: ‘Without Tokyo 2020 Medal, I’ve Disappointed Sports Minister’

Team Nigeria’s captain to the Tokyo Olympic Games, Aruna Quadri has lamented his ouster from the Tokyo Olympics saying he has disappointed Sports Minister Sunday Dare who deserves more for his efforts in turning Nigerian Sports around.

Quadri who became Africa’s first Ping Ponger to play in the quarter-finals of the Rio Olympics in Brazil was bundled out in his Third Round after being drawn bye by Brazilian Gustavo Tsuboi 4-2 (15-13, 9-11, 6-11, 11-7, 7-11, 6-11).

Much was expected from the Nigerian but he succumbed to the Brazilian who was lowly ranked to him.

“Without doubt, Sports Minister Dare has done a lot to change sports and athletes welfare in his short time. His adopt an athlete initiative has impacted so much on many athletes. I feel disappointed I could not get a medal to say thank you”, Quadri said at the Games village mix zone in Tokyo.

Continuing he said; ” If I’m to say the truth the Sports Minister has done very well. I have played at the Olympics, Commonwealth Games and Africa Games. During his time, no Minister in the past has done what he’s doing. I feel disappointed”, Quadri said.

He however confessed that his Brazilian opponent was better than him. “That’s sports for you. I am a better player than him in ranking but he played very much better to win. You know anyone in top 100 can spring a surprise at any time. I did not underrate him because we play in Bundesliga and I know what he’s capable of doing.

“It’s not the end of life. We’ll continue to work to see what will happen in future”.

With his defeat, all Team Nigeria’s Table Tennis players have all been knocked out from the Tokyo Olympics.

Disliking machine next time add 50 dislike. When you finish wasting your life multi disliking comments you will be well paid.

  • Ako AMADI 3 years ago

Quadri was playing table tennis for Nigeria before the current Minister of Sports was appointed. So he should stop politicizing sports.

  • @Chima so you did not like the dislike? But you love the way you called another person a mad man? I am surprised. What has gone wrong with Nigerians? Is it because of the many problems we are having? How can chima be so comfortable to call someone a mad man despite the fact that the person did not abuse him? @Chima check your ways. What you do to someone today is a seed. It will grow into a harvest.

Says who? Who cares about the likes or dislikes most? I know the clown behind it but like I said who cares coz he’s just doing silly things that will not add a dime into his pocket.

        • Chima E Samuels 3 years ago

Clone I can feel your plight tell me if you need 20 likes. You’re hiding behind a ghost name! I want you to show your real self because I know the multi disliker. Technology reveals more than your tiny brain knows.

  • Why won’t you get dislikes when your comments is always full of sentiment, hatred and mostly senseless. Nobody get any money for liking or disliking any post here but the truth is that,if u see a sensible well written comment the only way you can appreciate such is by liking it but, if it’s other way like yours,omo9ja,and Jimmyball that is what u will get

Now South Africa is in Crisis. Omg we are in Crisis Africa, we must sack all these white criminal coaches. Egypt and Ivory Coast just qualified with African Coaches. Safa must stop the controversial laws of qualifying for tournaments by playing zonal qualification. We must go back to seedling base on ranking and stop this fake way of qualifying after beating Lesotho Botswana and Zimbabwe. CAF president must stop this drama and Africa must wake up and know local ex internationals are key to African Football and must sack white coaches. Nigeria and South Africa are going down everyday and I whipe.

    Hahahahaha, the noisemaker is back!
SA has been bundled out of the Olympics. That doesn’t mean SA football is going down. I disagree completely with that. SA will bounce back in other competitions.
Nigeria is definitely not “going down” either. Our football is experiencing an upward swing. Watch us in the next Afcon.
So Bobby, it is not SA that’s in crisis. It’s you!

Yes our swimmers will take a lot of gold and also Akanni Simbine. But CAF president is a criminal SAFA also are dumb.
